Nah wasn't planning on using any pumps, just drilling the sump at the level I plan for Max fill and run pvc diagonally down out the hole in the wall. 100% gravity, no hardware that can go south and cause a flood

Tank is in the basement ? Mine is mhhh damn delaware lol

Nah... Florida so no basements, water table is too high here, that's the one positive about it. I'd be nervous using a pump for that though, id have to figure out a mess of redundancy and have water sensors all over D:

Ahh man you have it made....it be drippin asap

Well the chloramine thing is the issue, gotta figure out a good filter for that. Was thinking of a whole house filter specifically for the tank. I've got a water source right outside the room the tank is in, so no issues there. Just need the cash flow and a solid filter to buy

Just an update on thos topic. So far its been a fail for me. Not saying its not worth trying but i havent gotten any results. Though i havent dosed (sugar, vodka, or bb) and dont plan to.

I finally got results from the denitrator I built but only after I started dosing with carbon. I tried it for over a month in water without extra carbon but it just wouldn't work.

Looking back it seems obvious it would have never worked without carbon. There's just not enough organic carbon present in tapwater for synthesis/respiration. In fact, water companies remove DOC from water because when chlorine is added to water with DOC, trihalomethanes are formed.

Are you still using it or kahpoot ?

Im thinking of putting a crap load of purigen in one or two towers just dont know how much pressure/gph the uniseals can handle so.eone said 40 psi but im not sure how that corresponds with gph

I'm still testing it. I'd like to see how much nitrate it can actually remove without causing a bloom. So far it has reduced nitrate from 60-65 mg/L to 5 mg/L in under a week. I don't know if I'll use it on one of my current tanks yet. I may just add some fish to the tank it's in now if I don't end up using it for something else.

A purigen reactor/filter sounds good. I'm not sure about the max flowrate for those uniseals. Your uniseals are different from mine. When I saw the picture of yours I wasn't exactly sure how they held in place.

What about using a nitrate-selective anion exchange resin in one of the towers? They can be recharged in a brine solution.

I have an ion exchange nitrate filter hooked up to the house never knew they were made smaller or that the resin coukd be used on a smaller scale.
