Hello
Looking for a well made SPINCAST REEL (not Shakespeare) .

I was looking at ZEBCO brands but know nothing about them.
Have heard its good but will look at any suggestions.

I have other reels better types but spincast are only reels I can cast very far .

Thanks

thats what i have pfluger is the way to go:)

core is a baitcast reel, not a spincast.

Louie, you really want to get away from the spincaster's if you want to do some serious fishing. Even on the best of the them, the capcity is limited, the drag is crap, limited good quality rods are available for them, and you look like a rookie fishing anywhere with them.
Spincast reels to fishermen are like goldfish bowls to fishkeepers.

Get a decent quality spinning reel or baitcasting reel and practice. You will be able to cast further and have more line control with either. The drags are much better and the line capacity is larger as well.
I prefer to fish with spinning gear as it feels more balanced in my hand and you can usually cast further and don't have to worry about backlash.

If you are dead set on fishing with spincast, zebco is best.

Thanks great offer but I cant cast out far with bait cast type reels. I have a Shimano like that and cant cast out far with it.
Great for boat fishing .

Spin cast reels have been only reels I can send the lure out distance in a lake

lol I am a rookie fisherman. I fished in Long Island but off those blue fish party boats where you rent the stuff.

I have fished here now 2 yrs but lots to learn and lots mistakes . I have baist cast and good spinning reels use them for boat but no way can cast far with them.

The spin cast problem was when I caught big peacock bass or cichlids the reels would go out (Shakespeare model "top of the line versions" but LOVE their rods).

So sticking with spincast but different brand . I ordered pflueger Cetina spincast this am.

I do agree as a whole compared to other reels not the best made but spin reel for me was a tangled mess and low casting distance.

thanks

Louie - since you are a rookie - let me suggest you buy a better, low stretch, low memory line. It will cast better for you. Also, try to practice casting with the correct weight lure on your spin rod, it should give you the specifications on the rod towards the butt section.

You can do fine with spin cast reels, Pflueger is by far the best. Zebco & Shakespeare are lower end reels, but they will do the job for most things. The problem is when bigger game fish take, the reels strain because they are set up in a way that pressure cocks the spool to the side a little, leaving you with a herky-jerky drag.

If you run into a situation where the reel wont take in line, just keep pressure on him and eventually the fish should come to you.

Good luck!
