Yes, but not COMPLETELY the same. Asian aros are known for their difficulty to breed. There has only been ONE place where asian aros have been bred outside of SE Asia, it was in a public aquarium with a pair of greens after many years being together, forgot exactly which public aquarium.
Yes they must be the most finicky breeders of all fish.I remember reading about that story, someone mentioned it in this forum I think a few months back and I think the aquarium was in London.

And as far as I can see Aus gov want ban so many things may be everythings O_O. ( may be want get more money? I am not sure ) They even had a fake sign in the street, so many ppl got fine for it. it was on the news. And I think that was just wrong and stupid.

yes it was in the uk

I don't think USA will ever legalize the importation of Scleropages Formosus any time soon... its too much money in the black market...more game for Fish n' Game

There's probably more money in legalizing Asian Arowanas then on the black market in the USA. More buyer would buy (and sell) due to the luxury of not having to worry about being persecuted.

It would not surprise me if Asian Arowanas could bred in tropical Australia. However it is not likely people are going to dump or stock a river with such an expensive fish.

It WOULD surprise me if these fish were bred in tropical Australia in the wild, but like you said, we probably won't find out if they can or not as there wont be people dumping such expensive fish into the water.

If asian arowana were made legal in the usa it would be disastrous for arowana keepers over the world. Asian arowana are already extremely expensive and this is due to the high demand and limited captive bred stocks. From what I can tell the tropical fish trade in america is huge if if legalized it would drive prices through the roof.

Personally I would rather they stayed illegal. I know this is pretty selfish but as a fish keeper in the uk I find many rare or exotic fish are very hard to find or are otherwise very expensive. Whereas I see many fish that I would love to be able to get bought and sold at relatively cheap prices in the usa.
