What fish have your rays killed?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It really seems to be hit or miss. My largest female will hunt other fish but only certain ones. I've lost discus, tins, arulius and filament barbs. That's all I can think of. My severem and scat seem to be fine.

I also have moon led lights but that doesn't seem to help.

Lets see my rays are no longer "allowed" any tank mates as they "don't play well with others"

geos
bosmani rainbows
clown loaches
bala sharks
tin foil barbs
gourami
silver dollars

This is just a sampling of the fish delicacies my rays have or have tried to consume. I have ray only tanks now, I am not going to chance losing more fish to my rays simply because they like to taste test all new fish that come into the tank......

I know several guys who keep big Pacmans ( lophiosilurus alexandri ) with rays.

I find it an awesome combination, but then i have allways had a soft spot for pacmans

My female mm has mauled one of my discus, but somehow he escaped and made it. She has killed a 6" super red severum I had though. I woke up one morning and turned the lights on to find her carrying it around like a dog with a new found bone. Lol she seemed so proud. A week previous to that event she took him down while feeding and slammed him a few times. I managed to rescue the severum during that instances. It was my warning I guess.
I no longer leave the tank completely dark. I always have moonlights or daylights on.

Is this topic posted often? I had no idea there were so many "lessons learned" out there and i've not noticed it brought up often.

She thinks she pregnant in spirit but there's no chance she is. The male is maturing sooooo slow. Stunner tho so worth the wait.
