My title says it all..I believe in releasing do to the fact i think its best if they go back and swim another day for someone else..but if its a fish I think is worth keeping I will or I just hopefully if i got money will get pictures and measurements of it..and hang it up lol. But hey enough of me rambling on and on whats your guys opinion? :D:popcorn:;)
Oh yea i forgot to mention label your favorite catch in the poll..by the way its multiple clicks :) (Freshwater Fish)

I release 95% of what I catch ,But with that said I do Love to have a good fish fry once in awhile mainly what I target to keep are catfish and crappie and spoonbill
and also If I hook a fish and I know its going to die anyway I will keep it if it isn't big enough cut into chunks and instant catfish bait ...

When i used to live in north carolina we would catch blue fish when the season came around and they awesome. Mean as all hell and were big. They would attack the fish you caught while reeling it in. My opinion on catch and release is if you arent gonna eat it dont keep it. Frozen fish isnt as good as fresh so cook it when you catch it dont freeze it

Im torn about C&R because at least the fish is getting a chance to survive, however its often a futile effort because the fish dies as a result of being weakened and exhausted and it only gives the fisherman a false sense of harmlessness. I think the humane thing is not to hook a fish in the first place so those fishermen who regret the harm they do would be better off finding a less harmful hobby, like fishkeeping.

i release most of what i catch. the few that i release into the crisco ocean are perch, some pike, catfish, crappie, redhorse suckers, walleyes/sauger (when i catch them as i never waste my time going for them), if i get any good sized trout/salmons they are for sure in my belly.

actually if the fish is handeled correctly it is more like a 98% live rate if not more. on all fish. if you personally dislike fishing don't go into a fishing section.

just how is fishkeeping less harmfull? if you were kept in a small box for something elses veiwing pleasure would you feel that you were fairly treated?

fyi, new threads show up as new threads regardless of which forum they are in. This one asked for opinions and I gave mine. As for your claim that 98% of fish survive c&r, I highly doubt it. What is your source for that info?

Not all aquarium fish are kept in small boxes. Some live in nice roomy clean tanks and blossom in captivity while eating a great diet, mating and LIVING as opposed to suffering and dying. Id say thats quite less harmful.

I believe in catch and release. However if I catch a fish that I can eat for dinner... then I will keep it. I only keep what I can eat though. I dont keep everything I catch and I only keep what catch is within proper limits.
