What is your WC per week?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I run three 2gph drip, but with pressure high I have no idea how much water they actually put out. Constant stream of water as opposed to a drip... I'll stop being lazy and test it in a 5 gallon bucket. I also do WC the really inefficient way, by adding water as I remove it. At the end of the week I really have no idea how much water I've changed. I just run it until the water has dropped like 8 to 10 degrees. 5 immature rays in a 300 gallon, they just eat a ton.

I do 25% once or twice a week depending on the bioload. I also make sure to do a 50% once a month. I don't have a single tank that isn't filtered atleast 10x per hour though. Depends on what you're running and how you're stocked.

Depends on the tank. Big cichlids get 75%atleast once a week but more if I have time. Brackish get 50% 1x week. SW is around 10%

Before moving my fisb around i was doing 2x fin level wc's per week on a 150 and 75 gal.

All depends on where you want to be nitrate wise

My nitrate goal, was 2-5ppm (my source water, treated Lake Michigan water had a natural nitrate level, of <1ppm). I kept a log over a number of years, and with weekly testing, entering results of various water change schedules.
I was able to achieve this goal, on my @1000 gallons of tanks, with 30% every other day water changes, and lots of plants such as pothos and papyrus. In summer, I found I sometimes needed 30% changes everyday

You are nuts duanes lol...
75-80% pw for me.
Don't look at my nitrates as it's depressing with up to 40ppm out the tap, kent UK.

40 out the tap?! That's ro or rodi status right there. I bet tds and phosphates are nuts to.

Maybe, it's just something I don't think about. Fish do ok, look happy and grow well.
My water supplier is southern water obviously UK based if your interested in the full specs.
I've stopped worrying about it, local people keep and breed rays and discus in it, can't be that bad.
