im getting a 125 gallon tomorrow so im taking my oscars and arowana out of my 55, so my 55 will only have a jack dempsey and a green severum,

what would be some good tank mates to introduce in my 55 with the two cichlids?
and what community type are my cichlids part of?

first of all...wrong forum...

but...you could add some convicts, which will make lots of babies for your others to eat, maybe some firemouths, midas cichlids, dovii,...i don't know really....like i said, wrong place to ask for this info...go to the sa/ca cichlid section

If you add breeding convicts to your 55 they will torment your JD and Sev everytime they breed. I wouldn't add anymore cichlids. Go with some fast dithers like Giant Danios. I think they do best in groups of at least six.

Sure you will hear of other setups in a 55 with more cichlids, but I would avoid it. Maybe something pretty small and peaceful. I would keep the two you have and add some dithers (giant danios are perfect), maybe a cat of some sort or two, and a smaller growing pleco.

Cichlids: Could get a small green terror, blood parrot, or another severum.

Other Fish: Could add some loaches (clown, yoyo, dojo), silverdollars or tin foil barbs (eventually the barbs would need to be moved to your 125 or more since they grow to 12 inches). Could get some rare plecos.

Good Luck !!!! :headbang2

A single giant danio is not a good idea. You need a group of 6 or so. I like the clown loach idea, but they should be in the 125 when full grown.
