what to do with a 1G

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Got a pic of your 1 gallon? With something to compare it with sizewise...
Never seen a 1 gallon tank!

actually, the UGF does work I found out, just need to get an air pump. (I got one, but it's really noisy, and this tank is next to my head all night long) I still haven't got any heat, the water is in the 60s. keep in mind I have a compact flourscent, no heat output. can a guppy survive without heat? how about ghost shrimp? I hear they are temparate shrimp.

and I will try to get pics up... it's a little triangular plastic box, really.

A guppy will not survive in the 60s.
But ghost shrimp will survive, as long as the temperature does not fall below 60F.
I recon you could pop 3 ghost shrimp in there, however they are escape artists...so you will need some sort of mesh cover...

By the way, this is a fantastic topic.
While some on this board are asking how to stock their 24 foot long tank...us monster fish keepers are still not to high & mighty to ask stocking for a 1 gallon!

A pico planted with one betta would look great!!!

Try planting it up and having a few bumblebee shrimps they look great in small tanks well mine did anyway.

You will probably get plenty of heat from the light.

How about for housing ghost shrimp. Since it has java moss already in it, you might only have to buy shrimp once :) When they breed, the young need the moss to hide from the adults. (1g is actually too small to breed them).

I picked up two one gallon hex tanks that I use as small hospital tanks or dip tanks. They also make great temp housing. I am currently housing my snails in one of them. Keep a sponge filter alive in your sump or wet/dry until you need it.

Great idea!

Or get a gigas, :j/k:
