My knifes spring to life instantly as soon as they hear the "plop" of the blood worm cube hit the surface.... they run around the tank in circles looking for food and it just starts raining down on them lol
x2

if I tap on the canopy door, my knife instantly comes right to the middle of the tank waiting for the shower of worms.

if he sees pellets, he investigate, gets dissapointed, and runs back to his cave

ok. so i fed from the back of the tank, and my tetras went after it a little bit, but then soon stopped because they are full. the small pile of worms were soon just lying on the bottom of the tank, however my knifefish did not rush to them, even though it was obvious that one of them saw it coming down the tank. they just sorta kept on doing theyre own thing. not sure if this is a good sign or not. but im glad that my tetras left it alone after a little bit, but im not sure if its good that they didnt go after it. input?

They're probably still getting used to their surroundings. Give it some more time.

i fed them a little yesterday, but most of my other fish got that food. fed them today, other fish left the food alone, but i got word that the bloodworms i put in there were still there an hour later. called my lfs, they said they might not be eating because the other fish is picking at their fin. is this a plausible remark? they suggested using a tank divider and waiting to see if they eat then or not, and then once they start to eat well again to remove the divider. a bit skeptical on this one but makes sense. they at first said that the fish might be sick because the other fish shouldnt be picking at them, but they pick at sick fish, but this was until i mentioned the fin nipping. but they said to continue feeding as normal, once a day, like i have been doing, but it seems too many things.

ok. i think i agree with you on that one there dbcb. i came home after the lights in the tank had been out for a good 3 hours, and even the smallest one was out on the prowl. i seemed to have woken them up when i came in..... however, when i had my mom check if the food was still there, that was at a time of about twilight, so maybe there was still a bit too much lighting than they liked, and then when it got completely dark they ate the food? maybe this is their current way of settling in atm, but i think if they continue this they may become less skittish. cuz the food is gone entirely. and there was a good solid chunk left when i left home, and they werent touching it, and i highly doubt that my swordtail ate all of it, he was the only one picking at it, they were a bit too big for his mouth. so i may be on to something here...... agreed?

should i leave the light off and let them get used to surroundings? or leave the light on for less time? (i do about 10 to 12 hours a day). or just wait til its very dark to feed? with this i can get a routine going and then slowly move into not feeding when its entirely dark.

although it looks like one of them has ich. should i be administering a medication at this point? it has some white stuff on its back, but its no continuous spots like i usually see, its almost a stringy thing.

ok. heres my report for today..... the other larger knifefish was out and about with the lamps on, but yet still has that white slimey stuff on its back. must be getting more comfy with the tank? illl see how the feeding goes tonight and report back.
