Oh ok. I know they have this fish here 2-3 years for their public view already, i was thinking in some different view they legally ok to have this fish here, if that the case i/we can have 1 too i dont see why not, unless we missing something here.
Do you guys think maybe this fish is not original blood of asian arowana that why they can legitimately display like that?
Btw, thank you all for the input. I just dont wanna missing opportunity to own 1 like this restaurant too, of course with out breaking the law.

Either the shop didn't know and is very lucky till now or he has a way round the rules that no one knows

Don't think he be that stupid to blatantly show that he is breaking the law

Lastly I tot permits can be applied just that not easily obtained but still possible.... maybe he really went through all the trouble for his beloved fish?

Now THAT is dedication, but I really doubt they would have accepted it.

Yup, totally agreed, the way the tank setup, the way the fish is and tanked in the conner that everybody can view during the lunch/dinner i dont think the owner did not know this is not a asian fish, however, we may missing something/or we are out of update etc i think.
I would not taking any chance to risk my bussiness just because of the hobbyist too, other hand they paid for professional to clean up the tank weekly so no way the fish unidentifiable unless there is things we did not know.
Btw, that is beautiful lovely fish. Restaurant supper busy maybe fish bring luck too :)

This thread is mainly for the law introducing if that is something we did not know only, i love this restaurant, this fish, and all the employees here, i want to see this fish stay here forever, and i also want to have 1 like this restaurant in my office too, just because i love them, no more no less.

Well hopefully this thread doesnt bring unwanted attention. Is it possible the owner doesnt know he is breaking the law and just not that many fish people in the area?
Like everyone else said it is not legal to own one in the USA. Its possible they could get permits but it is super hard to get and usually denied. The laws are antiquated and need remending. I dont think it will happen anytime soon but since these are bred in ponds and not taken from the wild, I dont see the issue.

Personally I wouldn't use this shop as an inspiration -- 99.99% for sure they don't have the proper, legal permit for that fish and they're either ignorant of or simply flouting the law -- Asian restaurants in SoCal are pretty well-known for breaking labor/immigration laws so I wouldn't be surprised if it were the latter situation.

And it doesn't matter if an Asian Arowana is "not original blood" -- get caught with one regardless of its origins and you'll be in big trouble, just not worth it imho, I'd suggest to settle for a Jardini or Silver -- not as beautiful or majestic as Asian Aros but still plenty cool.

It’s an RTG, seen it and the owner had it for at least 15+ yrs. This fish had been in a different restaurant but the owner relocated taking the aro to the new restaurant. It is an impressive fish in person I’d say it’s about 26”+. The tank needs a buffer so bad tbh. That’s why pics looks so horrible haha. Gotta love Garden Grove.
