A fully crossed RTG is very impressive and to have it for 15 yrs, he must be doing something right

To be sure, no small accomplishment that, and have to agree kudos on its care if 15+ yrs old -- and I hate to be a balloon popper but doing something right for the fish won't matter a single bit if the wrong peeps walk into his restaurant...Either he knows someone or I want him (or his fish:)) to choose my next lottery numbers :)

I have doubts 15yrs is due to luck... not like he is purposely hiding the fish

Well to clarify when I say luck that's in regard to not getting caught, not regarding care/status of the fish just to make sure we're talking about the same thing.

But if it's not luck (keeping the fish so long with no problems), and agreed he's not hiding the fish, then how does one explain him being able to evade legal issues with this fish for so long? While yes there is corruption in the US it's nothing like SEA when it comes to such things, and most wildlife officials in particular take their jobs very seriously because they love what they do and believe in it (whether or not we agree with any particular laws).

The only other possibility is that he has a proper permit, which I think would shock most of us, as they only give them out for private care in super rare instances (and then the owner still has to spend thousands of dollars to pay for the permits).

One would be fined thousands of dollars if found in the possession of illegal fish and the fish may be destroyed so one might as well pay thousands.

I just don't understand how is it this OP's business posting pictures on a public forum..

Do you guys think maybe this fish is not original blood of asian arowana that why they can legitimately display like that?
Btw, thank you all for the input. I just dont wanna missing opportunity to own 1 like this restaurant too, of course with out breaking the law.

I am sorry but I don't believe in your good intentions....or your reasoning for posting this here...Report the owner if you wish, it's your right...

I just feel sorry for the fish as it has no rights and it will be destroyed if the owner has no permit....

Yes we are on the same thing...

Not familiar with US laws but is it possible that requirements were less stringent 15yrs ago?

And what are you trying to say with below sentence? Just so you know Singapore is part of SEA

if the picture is true and what is posted is true regarding age and how it is displayed... then those in US should be able to explain better how is it possible, not me lol..... alternatively just ask the owner, what's so hard

My deduction is based on what is posted here. The possibility of him having a permit seems to be higher than he not getting caught for 15yrs with the arowana being displayed IN the restaurant

I'm not sure if the fish will be destroyed, I just think it will be confiscated and likely given to a zoo or researcher
