What WAS I thinking?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The pond is kinda heart shaped. So tiles are not a option. I can't carry buckets or heavy things as I can get backpain easy.

No offense, but for an 11yr old you sure have a lot old man problems...

Whats with not being able to touch water a lot?

i would suggest buying a pond pump to remove and add water. you wont have to touch water much and no heavy carrying. they are 20 bucks at home depot. there are also long hoses with connectors to make them longer if needed too. :)

Asma I dunno if you heard of it. We have a pump but I doubt that the pond is going to be built. We are going to put the liner which has been soaked in salt and god knows what else ever since I started this post. We are going to throw away all the decor and try putting a guppy from the fish store. A baby because they are tougher that the grown ones. Do you think it will work?

^ So basically you left the original liner (which may have had problems) soaking in some water with salt + other chemicals which you aren't sure about, and hoping that once you rinse the liner off and re-install it into the pond that it won't effect the fish?

Honestly, i'm going to say its impossible to say whether or not your fish will survive... especially if you never worked out exactly what caused a problem in the first place... But with that being said, i guess there is a chance your fish will make it if all the equipment is clean and the water has been cycled properly, although even then you probably won't know for sure until you try it out?

+1

Sorry... but you made me laugh! You can't touch water alot?. You gotta explain this one! I would love to hear why.

Sorry... but my guess is that it won't work and you are probably wasting your time with that liner... If you wan't to keep and breed guppies all you really need is one of those big tubs 15-20 gallons size and some floating plants and/or a lily plant. No filtration needed. In fact I have the same setup with a few of those large buckets from the hardware store. I stuck a pot inside with a lilly plant and used some floating plants on top. The guppies breed like crazy. All I do is feed them, I don't ever do waterchanges. Sometimes when it rains hard the bucket overflows and some water is changed (probably wih a few guppies escaping the bucket and ending up drying out/dying on the grass. But I don't see them and frankly dont care because the populations of fancy guppies in each of those buckes is out of controll) I give them away for free to friends and family and they always comment on how beautiful the guppies I breed are. from a yellow strain of guppies, I have produced reds, blues, and ones that have all the colors of the rainbow.

Dude thier 10 yrs old. I doubt they would really know how to tile.

Dude it is a solution. He could probably get someone else to do it for him or show him how to do it. It's not hard at all... Even though his pond is heart shaped he could still tile it. Just gotta find someone willing to help.

Anyways... Why you so negative...

ok, so you said you have asma? do you mean asthma? like the breathing issue? My son has it. either way, I say ditch the liner. get a big plastic bucket that is nice looking. fill with some treated water. put a crapload of guppies and let them do thier thing... during that time, u can try to research how to make a pond on youtube. this gives you fish time to reproduce and you time to properly set up a pond...
