What WAS I thinking?

When I was 10 I had two 50 gallons and a 100 gallon. My mom supported my whole fish keeping thing as long as I keep the tanks clean and she doesn't help. She likes feeding the fish but that's about it. I'm 21 now and this was 11 years ago. There wasn't any special hose to help me clean the tank. All I had were 5 gallon buckets and a dolly. Never had I asked helped from my mom to clean my tanks. I think you should start taking more responsibility on your fish and tanks.

Ive been keeping animals aince I was 10 at your age I had a snake , two 4' iguanas , a parrot,8 cats and 100 + fish. Not one of those my parents toke care of. I spent my weekends cleaning their litter cages and tanks. Never once complained about it. I asked for all my pets so I was the soul keeper of them. My point being learn some responiblity before you keep any type of pet.

add salt to replace salt and raise temp to 83-84... then water change water change water change... I hope you can salvage at least a few... Did you medicate or chemical the liner prior to use? that is usually a good idea.. you have no clue if a bottle of something busted on it in the truck it was delivered in... ugh. im sorry for your loss!

Apparently the gravel was dusty. Even though I washed it 6 times. The dust got stuck in the fishes gills and they died. That would explain the tetras and molly.. But not misty. It's either the fish man is talking rubbish or it really DID happen.... You said you kept all those pets? I have a dachshund and a stray cat that I fed because he almost staved and was too weak to fight other cats. My hamster died three years ago. He was 5 then. The tanks are easier to clean but what mom hates is the mess, Water all over the table, chair, floor. And the of coarse when she sits on the chair that has water on it... Get the image right? I have been cleaning the betta tank and I help with the goldfish tank. I hold the pump and mom carries the buckets. Then I scrub the tank with hot water and mom cleans the decorations. Then I decorate and she fills half the tank with treated water and I do the other half. I hate snakes after seeing one wild one in the living room right outside the bedroom door. We lost another molly and one of the sisters look bad. Disco has tail rot but fish care blue cures that.

Woah... hold up a second... so when you do your tank cleaning, do you take out 100% of the water each time and use hot water to clean the inside each time?

No. Mostly we leave enough for the goldfish to swim. but yeah we do it like that once a month. Because of the fact that there was dropsy in the tank once.

Kid you lucky. The most my parents would do is feed the cats and atleast you got 5 gallon bickets back then all I had was a pint pitcher to do water chages.
