they are endangered. US rules state that no endangered animals are allowed (they are red listed). Funny thing is that even though they are endangered in the wild, they are bred commercially and there is an abundance of them, so wild stocks aren't being threatened as much anymore by collectors

well, you CAN get them, but we're not allowed to talk about it. Plus, just think about it...is any fish worth prison time?

ya true, if only there was a way, like a test u can take at ur fish and wildlife office, on the care, and what not of the fish and the laws and stuff, then if u pass u get a permit to have. i would study my ass off for sure.

HOLY CRAP! That's a great idea! Permits for endangered species. One must show proof of adequate holding facilities (say, 500g tank minimum) and pass a background check, pay some $$, and get a permit! That would be awesome!

We are the exceptions in that we have the ability, resources, and knowledge to keep them. Unfortunately, laws are made for the masses.
