What's The Best Way To Learn L Numbers?

Impressive fish mrtoofay. Always been curious about how it is that you can hold the pleco's like that without them thrashing away from you? I know when I grab hold one of mine they thrash to get away and sometimes almost succeed.

I've decided to make flash cards so what would be the best way to do it? picture and common on one side and L number on the other or the other way around? Also I'm starting out making 30 cards so what are the 30 most common ones you'll see at stores so I can start off identifying them first.
