Eye on the TV Cause tragedy thrills me
Whatever flavor It happens to be
Like:
"Killed by the husband"
"Drowned by the ocean"
"Shot by his own son"
"She used a poison in his tea And kissed him goodbye"
That's my kind of story.
It's no fun 'til someone dies

Don't look at me like I am a monster
Frown out your one face But with the other
Stare like a junkie Into the TV
Stare like a zombie While the mother holds her child,
Watches him die Hands to the sky crying,
"Why, oh why!"

Cause I need to watch things die From a distance
Vicariously, I Live while the whole world dies
You all need it too - don't lie.

"We all feed on tragedy
It's like blood to a vampire

Vicariously I, live while the whole world dies
Much better you than I"

Epic song :headbang2

I would lie If I said I didnt like to drop the occasional crab in for my puffer or mantis, but it is not somthing I do very often. I like them because of the personality and beauty they display.

i find this thread ironic considering it's MONSTERfishkeeper.com (yes i know most people aren't keeping what qualifies as monsters to the general public) and the slogan on the shirts in the mfk store say "my fish eats your fish" and "ditch the bowl". Seems lately people have been getting crap for not going with nano tanks and betta and gold fish.

i too have been guilty of wanting a blood lusting fish.....bought some RBP's and found that they are chickens. at 1st it was upsetting but once i got over that just watching them tear up frozen shrimp was awesome enough. the best thing is after that experience i look for both beauty and a fish that chuck norris would own. thats why i have a wolf cichlid. i think its ok as long as the fish are taken care of. hell id own a great white shark if i could.......:screwy::naughty:

I often look for the meanest fish or most aggressive feeders, I love to watch them rule a tank. I mean my fish list consists of a texas, 3 oscars, 2 jags, festae, chaca, trop. gar, Endli, fw stone fish, soon hock, achara, and 2 monos not my entire collection but some of the more aggressive ones. I know many of you have these fish or something similar, and theses are aggressive fish. I personally love to watch my fish tare apart feeders, and see nothing wrong with it. They eat live fish in the wild why not in my tank. I love aggressive and nonaggressive fish, but the aggressive ones have a certain allure. All of my fish are cared for properly, but I see nothing wrong with feeding feeders once a month or more.

just my 2cents

I gotta say, I love the way my murray enhales his food. When we go away on holidays my Mother in law has to feed him. When I was showing her how to do it she screamed when he hit the top of the tank, jumped when she dropped the prawn in, and shrieked about getting all wet when he splashed half the tank out! I love going on holidays!

Well heres the thing. When you own your own fish store you kinda do have to cater to what you paying customers want to buy. If you don't then you will not make it. That is unless you are loaded and can afford to lose the sales. I think the key is balance. You got to cater to a very wide verity of people. From guppies to gars. You know what I mean.

I understand the concept of "feeder" fish. Especially for those of us keeping predatory fish that refuse to eat non-live food, ya know, large characins and what not. The issue lies where people repeatedly buy fish to replace the fish that didnt survive the beatings of their monster oscar or mayan (btw the term monster doesnt mean it has to eat other fish). IF youre using feeders as a healthy part of your fishes diet, not a big deal, but if youre buying fish just to watch them "get torn apart" for entertainment then I cant condone that. And that is what i was refering to with this post.

As far as the whole living vicariously through tragedy thing, kinda weird :screwy:. I understand not being able to turn away from a train wreck, but causing one just to watch it is a whole other thing...

it amuses me what people assume about you by your choice of fish. it's like you assumed that because a store said "this is the meannest we've got" or people ask what's the most aggressive fish on here that they all want to start fish fighting rings. you even threw in a mike vick reference

Fish fighting ring might not be a bad idea, alot less legal trouble if you get caught then dogs. i kid i kid

I know a few people who are guilty of this.
