mine was when i 1st saw this fire eel i felt in love with him and i just had to have him so i asked the guy and told him i wanted him and he told me to buy a 10gallon fish tank with watercond.filter .light and heater that came all in the tank for $54..and the fire eel was i think $34..anyways i didnt care about how much i would be spending..than i find out they need a 75gallon tank minimum and that was my mistake not doing my research and listening to petstores that dont even care about the fish just to make money..imm happy though my fire eel still with me

A while ago I saved a bunch of white skirt tetras from (name of place removed), I basically stole them, because they were going to die or be dyed whichever came first. I felt great, like I was saving them, because I was, or did until that night. I put them In a holding tank (for quarantine + ich treatment) that I had just set up with a little fountian pump I hadn't used much before made into a filter. Then I went to sleep. I didn't realize but the pump didn't work so well and I guess it died after a few hours. I woke up and found a whole mess of dead tetras : (. Karma I guess, or maybe they just had to die... : ( again.

The one positive thing though is that a gourami survived (obviously), I treated him right and now he's one gorgeous fish.

Just the other day one of my ten gallons exploded (not literally) right behind me. What had happened was little air bubbles coming up from the airstone were popping and ever so slowly spraying water up, catching on the air tube, and running down the back of the tank. Over about a week, it soaked through the wall, got to the outlet, and shorted out the entire circuit, shooting sparks and electricity everywhere, nearly starting a fire. Now we need about $500 dollars of electrician repair.

Lesson: make sure the top is always covered!
