Spaniels can actually make pretty good guard dogs for a smaller house, if you're not set on having a gigantic dog. Very loyal, and good personalities.

Though I am going to get a female rescue of some kind, most likely GSD from VGSR, when J is old enough.

Definitely pitbulls. I've never owned a dog as loving as them. Mine always somehow knew the difference between people we knew and people we didn't . He never hurt or bit someone unless they tried to hurt u

Bull Terriers and Dobermans and off course the wife's 2 toy poms lol.

Unfortunately we are not allowed to crop the ears on any breed off dog here in SA so the doberman's must have floppy ears, what can you do
