I kept my old mangroves in an old cabinet that I converted and made "monitor proof". It worked very well. If I recall, the final product measured 8x4x4. As mentioned above, these guys are among the most difficult of all monitors to house due to the fact that they need land, large body of water, and trees to climb. Monitors are very intelligent reptiles and need plenty of mental stimulation to thrive. I remember changing up the enclosure every week or two so that they could "explore".

Its just a shame that you're just starting to do research at this stage in the game.

He never does research..hence our frustration. He buys everything on impulse, and never thinks about the consequences.

Example of large_cichlids logic: (sees said lizard in petstore) "Oh that looks cool...I'll just trade one of my other pets for it and if it doesn't work out, I'll just come back and trade it as well. It doesn't matter that I know nothing about it and am incapable of researching it on my own."

LC, do you ever ask the petstore folk about these animals before you buy them? (besides how much they cost)

Seriously, until he breaks out if this whimsical impulsive trading binge, he'll always be a lowly troll who never learns.

I agree that yo should stay away from monitors and tegus. There just isn't any glass tanks large enough to accomodate adults of these lizards.

Ophiuchus: He DID NOT buy it... his friend was moving and gave it to him.... so yea

and LC:
if I was you I would make something like 8x5x5.... and that should work

It is not even hard to make a large enclosure anyway... three of mine take up the entire wall length of various rooms. In my opnion, they add nice flavours to those rooms.

Of course, if you are going to clean them -- I advise you in investing pressure sprayers and hoses.

Hey stoppp flammin; Ophi. He hasnt been around for some time and does not know whats going on. OR he just refuses to look at LC posts.... I still find it hard to believe I do....

One of the things that is starting to irk me here is that so many people on this board keep telling us to "leave LC alone" and "quit flaming" and "dont post if your not going to help" when they have NO CLUE as to how this person is with animals.

In this thread LC wants to know just how big an enclosure needs to be for his Mangrove, take the time to go to HIS other thread here..http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=73348. He was given advice on "just how big of a cage he is going to need" and once again he is INCAPABLE of hearing anything but what he WANTS to hear. Proven by him asking the same question in this thread, which by the way will make no difference because he wont listen here either.

But since I dont want to be accused of "flaming" such a grand herper I will end with.....YAY you (LC) got MORE herps!!! Thats AWSOME DUDE, I want one too!! You are the COOLEST and keep teh COOLEST animals!!! WELL DONE SIR!!
