Tegu are very tame in general, they don't get unmanageably huge, they're great eaters and they're a little more forgiving re: temps etc.

Please if you're going to get a tegu please have an enclosure in the works as they grow fast in months. You'll need about the same 6x3x3 enclosure at least! http://www.freewebs.com/twoteals/tamingcarehibernation.htm

ure one weird person

I'm wierd?

You are the only person I know who goes throught as many reptiles within such a small period of time. I must admit, I did downsize once but I regret all of it, you are just interested in getting a new animal so that you can trade it in for a new one.

Judging from this thread and others like it, you aren't capable of housing such a reptile. Of course, I'm saying this as kindly as possible. That tank is entirely too small and the animal is likely too stressed from banging its face against the glass to worry about food. Having kept a Mangrove or two in the past, I can tell you that they acquire an attitude as they mature. If a simple bite forced you to sell the Nile, I expect this one will share a similar fate. Do us a favor and stay away from the Varanius genus. Perhaps geckos are something to consider?

He has/had gecko's.. I think he wants a large lizard he can keep in a small enclosure that won't bite him..

Large Lizard = Large Enclosure

Has a Mouth = GONNA BITE

Has teeth = Gonna hurt even more.

Ok, well just stop ripping into him...

Lc: What is the Basking Temp at right now?
120 i think is good

i think you should start building a good sized enclosure for the big fella...

i mean i would, and im 14

I'm not expert but I think that Mangroves are semi-aboreal so I would say that the minimum size should be 6-8' Long 4' Tall 3' Wide. Get right on this and your monitor should start eating as I think that may be the biggest reason why he has stopped eating.
