Simma down now...and Welcome to MFK

...stick around a little longer and read some threads and youll understand why most frown upon keeping an oscar in a 55.

NO ONE is HONESTLY willing to do 25% daily or 50% 2x a week water changes (I dont care what they say) and thats what it would take to keep a semi healthy oscar in a 55...and it wouldnt be a good environment for an oscar. Oscars can get bigger than 12 inches and a 55 is only 12 inches deep.

Happy learning!

Exactly

bump..

A single Oscar can be housed in a 55 for life, regardless what people say. Its not ideal, but hey, it works.

@OP: EBJD's look nice. Try those. Convicts are too common. A pair of Firemouths look nice if you can get some decent quality ones.

They can be but they shouldn't. Oscar tank requirements are argued on here to the point of redundancy. No matter what, people are going to do what they want in the confines of their own home. So I guess we shouldn't stress the matter any further. To the OP, good luck with whatever you decide to get. I think in the end most people here just try to give advice that will yield the best health and life span of fish. Sometimes that gets lost in repeated debates and arguments.

No, that's not what I am saying at all. What I am saying is that sometimes help or advice gets turned into repeated arguments that really helps no one. You are asking questions and looking for advice so that would mean that you are not throwing away ideas. I don't come on here to insult people or to argue. I have learned a lot about keeping fish and have been introduced to numerous species that I would have never been exposed to because of this site. I'm on here to learn and to keep in touch with people who enjoy this hobby as much, if not more as I do. I wish you the best with your stock and with the hobby.
