Not for life. 55s are not wide enough for an adult RD or Midas. You'll need at least a 75 minimum. After several years of growth you may need to go up to a 90.

i was curious but thnx for answering

well whats the biggest that can go in it..

Generally, you don't want to add a fish that will be longer than the width of the tank. It will be harder for the fish to turn and maneuver. Get something that will still have room to move around comfortably as an adult.

alright so max of 8" but you can do 9" for a catfish? =)

bump..

the first 10 or so posts answered your question. Its all up to what you want looks/ personality wise.

Use google to go research for yourself instead of having 100 people fill in the blanks for you. No one knows what you want and there are thousands of threads on MFK that you can search as well to see fish.

There are fish profiles in the stickys at the top of the forum as well as websites that have ALL cichlid profiles telling you everything you want to know about them, including full grown size etc.
