Which Parachromis pair is best suited for a 140g?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
DOVII ARE MY FAV IF YOU WANT SOMTHING SMALLER I SAY RED T MOTO, BEST LOOKING PARACHROMIS IN MY OPINION. I CURRENTLY HAVE 2 PAIRS OF DOVII AND ONE PAIR OF LOSELLI. I REALLY DONT LIKE THE LOSELLI MUCH AT ALL AND THIS IS LIKE MY THIRD PAIR RED TIGER MOTOS I LOVE VERY NICE LOOKING FISH BUT STILL HAS THE ROUGH PARACHROMIS ATTITUDE.

MY DOVII ARE FINE AND BEEN BREEDING LIKE RABBITS FOR OVER A YEAR AND A HALF AND THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN IN A 100 GALLONS AND NEVER WILL

Well, I feel sorry for your Dovii then. You didnt research the PROPER tank size for the fish you chose to buy...and they are stunted or will be in anything as small as youve said you keep them in.

See this...this is too big of a fish for anything less than a 265-300 as a full grown pair.

and for those of you that will rebutt with "they dont get that big in the aquarium", I offer you this...

IVE DONE PLEANTY OF RESEARCH DONT REALLY NEED TO RESEARCH CICHLIDS AT ALL I KNOW ALL I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THEM. THING IS I COULD CARE LESS BECAUSE ALL MY CICHLIDS HAVE ONE PURPOSE AND THATS TO BREED BECAUSE I USE THEM FOR FEEDERS FOR MY LARGE MARBLED SLEEPER GOBYS ALSO MY CICHLIDS ARE VERY HEALTHY AND FAT AND ALWAYS BREEDING THEY ALSO PROBABLY EAT BETTER THAN MOST PEOPLE WHO ARE REALLY INTO CICHLIDS SO AS LONG AS THEY ARE HEALTHY HAPPY AND MAKING LOTS OF FEEDERS FOR ME THEY ARE FINE. THE PEOPLE WHO NEED RESEARCH ARE THE PEOPLE I SEE ON HERE LYING ALL DAY ABOUT CICHLIDS ON THESE BOARDS BECAUSE THEY REALLY LIKE THEM IVE HEARD SO MANY LIES ABOUT DOVII,UMBEES FESTAE TILL IT CRACKS ME UP. I ALSO HAVE BREEDING BLACK NASTYS CUBAN CICHLIDS AND A FEW OTHER PAIRS OF CICHLIDS. BUT LETS FACE IT IN THE WILD ALMOST ALL CICHLIDS ARE FOOD ,THEY LIVE THERE LIVES IN SMALL POOLS ROCKS CREVICES AND SUCH TRYING TO NOT GET EATEN EVEN THE ADULTS ITS ALSO WHY CICHLID PAIR BONDS ARE SO STRONG AND THEY ARE SO AGRESSIVE CAUSE THEY ARE USUALLY ALWAYS ON GAURD IN THE WILD TRYING NOT TO BECOME A MEAL.

Ok.

Thanks for setting us straight & clearing that up. Im sure you changed everyones thoughts and views on how to keep large predatory cichlids with your awesome grasp of typing and linguistics.

its also funny that you claim a 140 is to small for a dovii but good for a jag when in fish tanks they both are gonna end up being the same size with the dovii maybe being a couple inches bigger

sorry to the guy who started this post i wasnt trying to mess up your thread just stated the parachromis i liked and as usual one of the mfk finest had to try and prove he knows more than someone else. i wont post on your thread anymore and good luck with your jags.

and thanks for all your b.s about dovii outgrowing a 140 in 18months

Yea, me and about 200+ others on here.

If fed properly and taken care of, they will do exactly what I said...with ease. In a lot of circumstances, faster than 18 months...especially a pair.

Youre confusing what is physically possible with what is the correct way to house happy, healthy fish. Anyone can stick your same dovii in a 55 (which is probably what you have them in) and say it worked. Thats an old amateur concept, proven wrong over and over and over again with stunted growth, spine & bone issues and death at way earlier ages. Its ok though, theyre just feeders to you.
