Why Are Glasses So Expensive?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My cousin had laser eye surgery years ago. His vision is slowly going bad again. I'm not so sure if I like the idea of touchups. I mean, won't there be permanent damage at some point?

I have had it (LASIK) for almost ten years now and so far no need for touch ups yet.

Understood...Getting the surgery was one of the best moves I have made since I have needed glasses or contacts since I was a kid but could never stand either of them,it was like a blessing except that I had to pay for it lol.

It is pricey, but after you've dealt with contacts for over 15 years and look at how much money you've literally thrown away just to see, and how much more you'll spend throughout the rest of your life it it justifyable when you're still young. I can see more hesitation as you get older though because you won't get the same return out of it.

My vision is 20/400+ with astigmatism. Contacts and glasses cost me a fortune.

I'm sure I'd love the surgery. I've been wearing glasses for roughly 15 years too. I'm only on my fourth pair though. I used to wear contacts but got tired of the hassle of putting them on and off

How much did you guys pay if you don't mind me asking?

I will not do the lasik even if it was offered free to me, seriously. But my younger brother paid for it several years ago after getting tired of contacts. I started wearing glasses in my 2nd year in college when most of the courses were on computer, 17 years ago. I currently keep a total of 5 pairs of regular rx and 3 pairs of rx sunglasses. Never wear contacts once.

Just curious as to why you feel this way about the operation?....Sumo,I paid fifteen hundred total.

"It's an American brand owned by Italians." bahahahaha

I did not know about Lenscrafters and Pearle being owned by this little known monopoly. Interesting. Crap! I'm going to Pearle tomorrow!! This is poop! :irked: And they own the eye insurance? What? Why is this legal?

thats from de-regulation ...just thank your local congressman....
