Why are we never satisfyed? Natural vs Manmade

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I use to collect baseball cards. There was a gd following that said I wasn't a true hobbyist cause I wanted really flashy stuff ..WHAT A JOKE! I think they wanted & dreamed about the Mickey Mantle & Ted Williams cards..but their loss

Well Micky Mantel is a whole other level, The Mic, you know when I was a kid I had a Micky Mantel TOPS Baseball card but back then my only concern was the bubble gum. Damn! If I only knew.

Well most of the above comments say they don't like man made if this is the case I see it stated over and over again that you wish you could keep Asian aro in the U.S.

If you don't like man made if you was allowed Asian aro you wouldn't buy one as most of them are crossed with something else to get higher shine levels thicker body or bigger fins even RTG Super red and xback

I'm with you. Asian arowanas are the pinnacle of the freshwater hobby IMO.

I don't think nothing is wrong with cross breeding two fish of the same type like 2 rays2 aro or 2 guppy
After all that's how all of our pure bred dogs was created

It's the mixing two different types to create a new type like flower horn parrot fish and rtc x tsn

Admit it, the rare factor weighs heavily on a lot of what we buy. Why buy African Tiger Scat instead of normal Scat? L273 instead of common pleco, Red Mammon instead of parrot? FRT instead of softshell? Its a rush using your resources and networks to locate, obtain, and care for the super rare stuff.

African scat- because it can live in freshwater unlike a reg scat
L273 has a ton more color then a common
Even I won't pay the price for a mammon because it is to close to a good parrot
FRT WONT EAT MY fish unlike a soft shell

You think I am an elitist but your theory is wrong... the most money I have spent on fish were either wild or wild type...... that being said it is fun tracking down stuff that is not commonly found.

I think that's what separates a collector from your average hobbyist. I wouldn't get a rush from that personally

I keep fish based on what my eyes tell me, man made, purebred etc. Price of fish --- since I was a kid, Frontosa has always been my favorite fish. Fast forward to adult. I finally was in a financial position to 'splurge' on Frontosas --- a colony of WC Frontosas. I treated myself to one...heck I waited a long long time, to finally get one.

Wow Factor ----- My fishkeeping hobby is a personal one. I rarely show my tanks to family, friends unless they ask to see them. Again this is a personal hobby to please my eyes.

BTW - my favorite fish is a male flowerhorn. Of all the fish I have, this fish is a true pet. Only fish that will seek my hands to pet him !!!!
