Why does every1 like cichlids?

I like them mostly for there color, some Just look stunning to the eyes.
As for personality, yeah some of them have great ones, others are boring skittish.
However I do enjoy staring at a sw tank more than a cichlid tank

CHICLIDS, isnt that what they call some type of gum. Hmmmmm.
 
Aggression, color, personality, the way they interact with each other, the fact that there's so many variants, you can even find two individuals within the same species that behave and look very different. Also the fact that they are hard to keep, it's a challenge to create a successful cichlid setup and you can never get bored because there's always a new mix you can try, new species, different biotopes, etc, etc. You might have a working setup and one day you wake up to find one of the lil ****ers has snapped and killed their tankmates lol... it's like a big gamble and that is just fun.

Plus they won't take a dump on your carpet or eat your gfs shoes...
 
Dude I love my Jack Dempsey. My folks got her for me 11 years ago. She swims to the glass and watches me in the fish room, and plays with the kitten through glass. She also gets upset and sulks after I clean her tank and change the water. Overall you can tell that there is some level of intelligence which I find very impressive.
