Michigan. You can fish anywhere and there is always fish to catch
Too bad there's no monsters there... Lol.
California is a great state. We have tons of lakes, ponds, rivers, creeks, bunch of ocean fishing(I'll let others elaborate on that.) We have probably the best LMB fishing in the world. Some really great salmon runs with the record being 88 pounds I think. You don't really freeze your ass off either. It's pretty much always sunny here.

well not to say my province is better , but just to point out a few things here, we are the province of 100,000 lakes, we have numerous species, pike, walley, perch, stergin, large mouth bass, arctic grayling, muskey, channel cats, carp, white fish, sauger, lake trout, browntrout, rainbow trout, cut throat, the list goes on and on, we have the sask river that brings alot of different species threw the province, we have the record pike weighing in at 52 pounds i believe, the record walley at 33 pounds. record rainbow trout weighing in at 48 i believe it was, we have great fishing compaired to our neighbour provinces if you ask any one who likes to fish, its deffinetly a place to come check out.
Ha a 33 pound walleye would beat the largest ever known 25 pound eye by alot so you better check your facts

Snow crabs taste better but I'm down with the bass fishing, good thread!!

For Michigan

We have the best salmon and trout fishing this side of the US. We have King salmon, coho salmon, pink salmon, atlantic salmon, brown trout (new world record just caught here), brook trout, lake trout, and rainbow trout. Part of the salmon family we also have whitefish and lots of them. We may not have the biggest salmon but we have a very deverse fisherie that can be found no where else but the great lakes.

We have lake sturgeon and the population continues to grow I hear there going to start stocking my local river and many other rivers across the state.

We have suckers of all kinds and shapes some of which are very good fighters the spring spawning run is fun for every one and its easy to catch 20+ suckers in an outing.

There is a good catfish population that contains flatheads, channels, and a few bullhead species. Imagine the size flatheads can reach, then think about them in lake MI with lots of food (suckers, sheephead, white perch, alewifes, etc) enough said. Channels average on the small size but big ones are caught at the piers and lakes 20+ pounders.

We have lots of esox here musky and pike, both reach good sizes here and its not uncommon to her of 40" inchers.

There is a few members of the Moronidae species. such as white perch, white bass.

We have a good sunfish fisherie the best is for spring gills, pseeds and crappie the farther north you go such as up in the U.P. there is a good rock bass populations. We have 2 bass species smallies and largies. Smallies in lake MI and rivers get big 5+ pounds 7s arnt unheard of. Largies up to 17 pounds but a 5 pounder is a good one for MI.

Cant forget the percidae. We have yellow perch, walleye, and sauger. The perch fishing in lake MI and other lakes is known everywhere and is very good. A little less unheard of is the walleye, they get big here state record is only 17 pounds but its only a matter of time till it falls. 10 pounders are quit common but 5's are more likly.

Last of all a very unutilized fisherie for freshwater drum (sheephead). They are very easy to catch and get big, during the summer when its blazing hot its not hard to catch 20-40 of these on a good day. Ive caught them up to 17 pounds and 30+ inchs.

You can think that... BUT! Where else in the world can you find such a diverse amount of FRESHWATER fish from all over the world in just one state? Here's a hint. It's not Michigan, however great you think it is. I would rather fish in Florida's freshwater canals than in any other state.

Florida owns. More coastline than you can shake a stick at and tons of rivers, lakes, streams, canals, and every other body of water fathomable. There are 5 ponds in walking distance of my house and a river across the street thats almost 3 miles wide.
