It most definately is a good deal, and a Monster Fish Keeper would jump on it in a second- But the question is, is this 14 year old ready for a tank that's over 10 times as big as his tank right now?

yeah im gonna give it a shot. i tell my parents it will be a good experience for me and allow me to mature and learn to handle my money better when i have to buy things for the tank

im prolly gonna get the tank and not set it up yet but just to get a feel for the size of it then attempt to set it up. then fiill it with fish and so on.

If you live with the folks you need to listen to them. Once you are in your own place then you can get your 300+:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2 Just be patient. Maybe come to a compromise and get a 220. Thats not exactly a small tank you know:grinno::grinno:
well ivoted yes but now that i read the situation i agree with bllib

I voted yes get the 300 gallon. Tell your parent that it is easier to take care of a larger tank. Tell them that if it ever becomes their responsibility to take care of the tank tell them that they can sell it and show them all the money that you would get back. Show them what the setup would cost new. Show them all of the other things that you could end up spending your money on. Tell them that they should be happy that you are spending money on fish.

thats what i tell them and they seem to be giving a little in my favor right now. keep pushing until they break (or get me my tank lol)

You can always tell your parents about how fish is a healthy hobby, and will keep you out of trouble. And like you said, help you manage your money, and teach you responsibility.
I voted yes, and i still think you should get the tank. :)
