Why polys are addicting??

I have violet gobies already, and just love the way these prehistoric guys look! I wish I could have a bigger tank, but my house is pier and beam foundation. Are the polys a heavy bio-load fish? I would give up the female convict if it meant I could have 2 Senegals.

No polys dont produce much bio load compared to cichlids, idk how much cichlids bio load is but this people might able to answer that question.

lol don't think there's a measurement for bioload, but as you said bichirs are less than a cichlid.

There's no way to properly calculate bioload. But cichlids can be larger length and bulk wise. Lot of cichlids can be constant grazers much different than bichirs. Need to be in groups to decrease aggression. Much different than polys. But would agree cichlids greater than polys.

So do you think I could have 2 Senegals if I popped my convict in another tank?

Just wait until Hendre Hendre shows his mug
What?

Chances are polys are coming my way st this point and not the mystery fish

It can be done but long term there will be issues because of the oscars. As already mentioned. Plus ur water will really need to be watched. It'll go bad quick.

I do about 2-3 %30 water changes weekly on my cichlid community 210, but that's only enough to keep the nitrates at 40ppm.

Have you tried doing fin levelish w's ? Seems easier to maintain lower nitrate levels for me
