Why wider tanks are not more popular / common?

Most people wouldnt think of buying anything taller then a 30" tank. So as clockwork has stated. Doorways really arent the issue.
That may or may not be true. Most people who never had a tank that was 30" tall don't realize your hand will barely reach the bottom without putting your chin into the water. But I still think doorways has more to do with standard sizes more then Supply and Demand. Do you think tank companies would make tanks that you nobody could fit into there house. I think it has more to do with it then supply and demand. Were talking about standard sizes not which tank size sells the most.

The tank that is tempting me right now is 9 feet long, 4 feet wide, and only 30 inches tall with a center overflow, providing 360 degrees viewing pleasure. If I somehow get it done it will be my ultimate dream tank, and it will take up half of my garage. I might just be crazy enough to do it but I am holding back.

You're in luck then. You could turn it on its side and move it through a doorway. If it's going to take up half of your garage, you could always build a new garage. We commandeered the old garage area for our big tank and had to build a new garage.

Wide, tall tanks will not fit through standard doorways. You need sliding doors, double doors or garage doors to move a wide, tall tank in. Probably the main reason many large tanks are in garages and not in houses.

Our doorways are 35" wide. There is no way we could squeeze a 36" (wide/tall) tank through a door. We moved our 72" x 36" x 36" sump tank into the future equipment room before we put the walls in...

If you know someone who is handy have them take off the door and trim without braking it bring the tank in and nail it back

Ha ha! Yes, I suppose that would work for a 36" wide/tall tank like our sump tank. We found it much easier to move it into place before the walls and doors went up. Your suggestion, however, would not have worked for our main tank which 4' high and 4' wide. To have it inside the house, it was moved in, then the outside walls went up, and then the inside walls were put up. That was the only way we could do it and have it inside the house and not "outside" in a garage.

That's the one thing I dislike about living in an apartment I wouldn't be able to do that. a tank bigger then 27" would be a challenge

besides supply and demand... im no expect but i would guess handling the aquarium not right side up would void any warranty. with wider dimensions and turning it to the sides would put way more stress on the sides(depending on people's grips) and not everyone has commons sense when moving things.

I have a question. Pacu mom Do you ever plan on moving? Do you think the tank will add to the value of the house? I can take my tank apart and take it out of the house peaces by peace. even though it is 8 ft by 4 ft by 32 in tall
