I usually won't say anything if I'm not own the species yet, but there some answer/advises that I and other folks never own the species can answer because it's general rule most people has to follow to get thing right or at least get the general idea into right path for action. When I ask a question (I think I never ask any question in this forum yet) I don't care the person answer my question with a google search information, at least he/she did a home work for me on that part...it's just my 2 cents.

Let's be honest, we're all talking about Hendre Hendre right? Him and him alone?

Is that what this thread is all about?....a cleverly veiled means of calling someone out?

I was kidding for the record, Hendre Hendre is a good guy

I advised someone not to put rope fish with endlis. I own rope fish but not an endli. Was that ok in your book? Or should I have not said anything?

I totally see what you're saying, and agree to a point (and again, people need to be better about using caveats or unsure language if they're not sure) but this applies far more to some questions than others.

This thread is full of good points. I am very guilty of all this, but what I'd like to know is if my info is wrong? I've researched a load more than I've kept.

I'm here to learn and to try and take part in the forum. I have looked at so many fish in the past that it isn't even funny. Am I an expert? Of course not!

I just like making suggestions on what I have seen from other forum members or my past research or give facts from experience with certain things.

If I'm wrong about something by all means correct me please. I'd like to learn, In the past year and a half I have found out more about fish than I knew was possible and I enjoy sharing snippets with others. That's all...

You don't need to visit the Amazon or central America to know about biotopes.
You don't need to keep a dovii to know they are extremely territorial and grow very big.
Some hobbyists are fanatical and research constantly. Some hobbyists may have never kept oscars but have read about them extensively.
Who's advice do you want?
They guy that had an Oscar for a few months in a 40 gallon breeder? Or they guy that hasn't kept oscars but understands cichlids inside out and spends most of his days around fish and fish related information.

Hendre you may not have kept all of the fish you comment on.Reading some of your posts tells me your well read and keen to absorb information. I would trust your assessment on many fish related topics.
Just because some one has kept a certain fish, don't mean they did it well.

Lets be honest most of us will hound someone for unproper care of fish, such as oscar in a 10gallon and so forth. Common sense tells you they didnt do there research on the fish. Im not talking about people coming to ask universal fish keeping questions such as how to cycle a tank or how to set up a tank. There are just some questions only people with experience can answer.
