hey man it could be worse my parents limit me to about 0 $ a month unless i am doing a big project that is needed, like setting up my 125, and even then i am limited montly severly. compared to what i am currently on for my 125 setup your 60$ is like a fortune.

alot of the time 0 dollars a month is all I have yeah 60 dollars would be a fortune im gonna set up a 75 soon tho. hope fully they might think that "too much water" ill ease them into it tho by getting a 60 gal which is apparently fine and then a 75 and then more water.

No electric bills or anything along those lines are charged as "fish" spending. also, "putting my foot down" does not sound like a good plan if all I do is piss the misses off and then have to buy her something that could be possibly spent in addition to the proposed 60 a month. I am crafty...I will get more than that, it will just take time.

You have to order stuff and send it to someones house. Then go pick it up and leave it in the trunk of your car. If you happen to be out and find something with a super deal buy it and leave it in the trunk. Now if its a fish.... Buy it give to a friend.... Then have the friend bring it over in a zip lock bag and say someone was going to flush it. Thought of you and knew you would save it. Its worth a try. Sometimes works for me. :lipsseale

wow I wish I had 60 dollars a month to spend on fish. I am 14 no allowance or job. I dont even have a budget... every dollar I get my hand on goes to my fish or fishing my hobby

My girlfriend complains about the money I spend on my fish stuff, but she realizes I don't listen to her and do whatever I want to anyways. I think she's come to terms with it.

The simplest solution would be to not pool your money. She spends hers and you spend yours.

This reminds me of the time my ex-wife told me I couldn't drink beer anymore because we needed to save money and it wasn't in our budget. Then a few days later, I caught her spending $60 on makeup, and I confronted her about it. She said, "Well honey, I need the makeup so I can look pretty for you." I said, "What the hell do you think the beer was for?!?!"

If you both work, do the math to figure in a fair percentage to go towards all the necessities. Whatever each of you have leftover, is yours and yours alone.

If you work and she doesn't... Well...don't let me go there. It's your cheese and she is the one that needs a limited allowance. Unless she is willing to do all your water changes as payment for living with you.

If she works and you don't.... well...sorry bro...you are kinda screwed.

Been with my girl for a while now. **** like the above is exactly why I don't live with her. I am sure it will come at one point, and I am almost certain she will make more money than me. I am a supply chain analyst, and she is still schooling. Masters in Biology, and working on a PHD in Neuroscience. I got lucky though because she comes over to help me do water changes, and loves coming with me shopping for fish supplies. She also supports all of my other silly hobbies and interests like fire breathing, fire staff, and ethnic percussion. : p

Well what happens when you get married what is your becomes hers and what is hers becomes yours so its both equally your money so when she wants them new heels at the mall that are 150$ remind her you caught aford it cause you only have a 60$ limit and tell her to get the cheaper heels as it will save money Or perhaps anything she buys use that towards...my parents didnt understand why i spent 5,000$ on a fish tank and stuff when i set up my reef, once the corals and fish started to get bought my dad feel in love with it and showed it off as his tank to all his friends.... i was like thanks mister wtf are you doing spending 5000$ on this junk... haha

I say its fair. Bills need to get paid first so whatever is left over from bills and paying yourself/wifey in the saving is a win win situation. I would just save it and drop it on a fish I like after a few months
