Wild ‘Columbia’ Oscars

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Do they do this most of the time, looking up at the surface of the water? Juan did that as well, still does just not as much as when he was smaller. Spends more time chasing things now.
I think its survival instinct. They are always looking around or playing dead. They dart for cover a lot at this point too.

I wonder if you should throw in something cheap and common to help like danios or something

Get 5 spanner barbs, they are an epic fish and will likely just stay big enough to avoid being eaten if you get em a good size. My biggest are 5" and do great with my Oscar.
They hold a loose shoal and arnt shy about food.

I used to have Australian rainbows with the old Bumblebee which seemed to help him. I just havent been by the store yet to see what they have. Likely something will get addded.

Finding them in my area may be a challenge but I appreciate the suggestion. Likely will only be able to get something like rosey barbs or gaint danios around here. I have considered something like the spanner barbs to move into the 300 for activity and movement but wonder if the 18.5” endli would try and take them down.

I'm lucky I found mine big, the biggest are 5" long, 3" tall and over an inch thick, built like tanks.
I've wondered if they have teeth the way they tear up mussel.
Some get massive tho, in the wild over 10" long, biggest I've seen in an aquarium was 8" but that was at a zoo in approximately 2000g.
