I like the Bahia reds too but havent seen them available in a while.

Rapps has just got some Astronotus crassipinnis ‘Araguia’ for sale.

Here is a video I found of some. Not really the banded pattern that was available a few years back but good looking fish.
I just email him. They might be too small for me. How do you think they’d fair with five inch Kelberi?

These in the video look different then the crassipinnis I’ve seen. They look like ocellatus. The crassipinnis have spots on their chin don’t they?

Honestly I would be suprised if the Oscars were a true 2” as advertised. I would not take the risk at $50 a pop with any 5” fish let alone a bass. My oscars were advertised as 1.5 to 2 inch and they were solid 1.5” but not 2. This was my reason for not getting the pike at the same time. They said it was 5”+ so I didnt want to chance it.

Good call

Could always put them in my sump. Been wanting crassipinnis for a long time. Timing sucks. I can’t get the big tank up fast enough and I’m wayyyy overstocked.

That was really the only video I could find from that said catch location. The juvenile pics look like a messy pattern that could turn out like the ones in the video.

This was the ones from a few years back that turned into the nice banded crass.

As to the chin spots... even my orb had them, just not a lot. But it seemed a distinguishing characteristic of the crass.

I really want one. I emailed Jef so waiting to hear back. Shipping will be a lot since I’m on the other side of the country now.
