Dominator, I didnt realize you had started a thread after getting your pair in September, I know you lost the female but how is the male doing? Nice video also it been close to 5 months since you got them I would love to see an update.
the male is metallic under light and goldish without light. It has laid eggs with my king kong parrot twice but i think the kkp was infertile or the water was too cold. But your wild caught females look much better than the male.

Today i went to chinatown aquarium saw very nice super red texas for $320, want to breed them so bad. In the forum, those srt are refered to as orange texas:( If spawn is successful, the male should have at least 1 super red texas due to its gold/red body and metallic turquiose pearls.

Where did you get the "Vontebillo" from?

I have been curious on this as well. I sent an email to both Juan Miquel...who lives in Mexico and is undoubtedly an expert on the Hericthys complex...and also to Rusty Wessel who has collected all over the country. Neither have heard of this area that they were collected...or the variant. If anyone has some specifics on where this is, I would love to hear.

it's a really nice looking Carpinte. Good luck with it.

Thanks.

No email response from Conkel yet either. He's the source, so I'd be interested to hear what he has to say.

Here we go again..if Rusty or Juan have never heard of them then you really have to wonder (for those that dont know those 2 guys are probably the most experienced with Herichthys in the entire world). It'd be nice if the seller would provide some info but that doesnt seem likely to happen. Still a nice fish but I wont be getting any until some answers are provided.

Great, pass on them, I have 6 of them and there STUNNING, Ill be getting a few more when available....
FYI, Don & Ira have sold me to many fish to mention When he dosn't have "wild caught" he gladly says "Scott I only have F1", when he has a hybrid he says "Scott these are hybrid".

Rusty & Juan are awesome guys, but please dont be so naive, there are alot of fish in the sea!

Guys enough just pass on these fish... It really seems like you have an agenda. Im sure you dont.

Scott

Let's not go postal on it. I'm not questioning if they were wild caught. I was curious where it was located? Is it in the Panuco Basin....near the Sierra madres in the mountains? Where in Mexico? Region? It would be interesting to compare the various Carpinte variants by location to see if there are any similarities.

For example, Me, Ken Davis and another friend spent a day with Juan Miquel at a park at the base of Micos Falls in Mexico. He made a comment the the Carpinte collected at the base of the falls...a very dramatic geographic barrier...were much different in appearance to the fish "above the falls" at higher elevations. This is where the Carpinte "Rio Salto" are found...and there is a noticeable difference in body shape. Colors are different from place to place...pearling...

That's a pretty fair thing to ask. It's all about learning. Educate.

I agree with you 100% that's a totally fair, & reasonable request, one that I would want to know as well.

It seems that a small group of others seem to be posting (on this thread, & a few other threads) language that might seem to some as they are questioning certain others character, It might also appear that are trying to persuade others from not dealing with this vendor. I dont see the positive in any of these actions.

I can see your point. I've had conversations with a few of the folks...and quite honestly it's only an issue because of the unanswered question. The problem is that after all of the heated conversation, it's difficult for anyone to ask a question for legitimate reasons...including the folks you are referring...without folks second guessing the purpose.
