I believe in the other closed thread a guy, Citrinellus, emailed and never heard back from DC.

Why would you withhold this information, just curious. Did it give you guys a small sense of power? Nope! Power of what? A fish forum! What power could one posess? Is it fun to know something and hold it in your little clan? Nope, I belong to no clan! DO YOU? Did you guys giggle together? Not really. What's so funny about knowing where a fish comes from? Honestly the only thing I got out of knowing where they come from, is that they will probably thrive in slightly brackish water. I will probably never go to Vontehillo, Panuco Basin, or anywhere near there, so that does nothing for me.

A sad thread, I am done. I tried not to even get involved in this one. I do not even care anymore. You all have wild fish, you are all cool. Enjoy the hobby, for whatever you take from it, but make sure you do not give back, that would be too decent for you guys.

You know nothing about me. Most of my fish don't even have an F# bro. I get no stimulation from showing off "F0" fish. A nice fish is a nice fish wild, hybrid, or whatever.

I would also like to point these few sentences out....

I have been curious on this as well. I sent an email to both Juan Miquel...who lives in Mexico and is undoubtedly an expert on the Hericthys complex...and also to Rusty Wessel who has collected all over the country. Neither have heard of this area that they were collected...or the variant. If anyone has some specifics on where this is, I would love to hear.

I talked to Don this afternoon. Apparently he is off to Columbia. We had a very nice conversation about a variety of different topics. We did talk about the collection point of this Carpinte. Apparently it is very close to the collection point of sp." Chariel". We collected that area in Mexico. Don even knew where the small park was that we parked our cars. He mentioned that Vontihello is a small area just north of Chariel...near Tampico...which is in the Panuco basin. He mentioned that the collection point had slightly brackish water.

One thing that you have to remember when talking about these collection points is that the reference to location might only be an area collected and not necessarily a river or stream (which I thought this might have been). The Fredrichsthali called "yellow-head" has been referred to as "La Cieba" the town collected rather than the river name Rio Danto. So in this case the Carpinte was a local area of Tampico...a boro or whatever...called Vontihello. Don spoke to Rusty Wessel just the other day about the area as well...and I believe he plans on collecting there as well.

Don and I talked a great deal about the different variations of Carpinte. He said...and i agree...that if you just started collecting all over that area, each or most of all the Carpinte you would collect would be slightly different. It was a very enlightening conversation.

It's funny how these threads come off as someone being so called "curious" and trying to ensure the safety or purity of the hobby. However, many times I see them as witch hunts, especially when it involves certain people. Over the many years that I've been involved in the hobby I have seen these types of threads come and go, yes people do have the right to ask questions and people have a right to answer or not. Would we like for all of our questions to be answered? Indeed, but if they are not, we have the right to either get involved with (in this case) the fish or not, so if your questions are not answered satisfactorily then move on, its just that simple. In this hobby if you stick around long enough you'll see many of these fish come and go. The ones that stick around have some type of value to someone for ex EBJD. A part of the hobby is about what the PEOPLE like, so if you like it, keep it. If you don't like it or your questions aren't answered then move on. In this episode of the witch hunt starring the new kid on the block, Ira, and the long time favorite DC.....lol s.o.s from the same old clicks/chicks. The thing thats funny to me when the question is asked, isn't this what the hobby is about? But when you have a noob to the hobby asking a question about a disease, parasite, fungus or a remedy for any simple problem, I dont see half the interest........ hummmm, just makes me wonder. 12 pages on this, 7 comments to a newby's question on how to deal with ich, we as experienced fish keepers should ALSO be interested in helping in that way as well. I guess thats not fun enough or the potential to throw flames at someone is not great enough. But isn't that what the hobby is suppose to be about? Getting new blood in the hobby to ensure its survival should be what we're about, not exposing or even trying to expose every so called new species. This is a joke!!!!!!

There are alot of people on this site that post pictures and show there stock and answer questions for newbies and things of that nature however theres sum who never show pictures or start threads about there fish, but have time to hunt down and shoot negative comments towards breathtaking fish. I agree with it being a joke , however most people take pride in there hobby and fish stock on this site though, you can tell usually from the amount of pics and positive info thrown up by them
