LAme customer move: Brings water jug in, we sell them for a 10 dollar deposit, and you can return them intact with a receipt. Some guy brings in a jug with no cover. And NO RECEIPT. The manager tells him he has to have the cover. The guy flips out and tells the manager "I am leaving this here, and I am getting my credit." He gave it to him. I told the manager I would have sent him out the door, and he'd be lucky if he didn't have that jug up his a**.
Here's one for you. Guy comes in looking for fish for his new tank. Doesn't know size but describes a tank in the 120-150 range. Thinks a school of oscars would be neat and do they get along with those Nemo fish. Explain difference between fresh and saltwater. Just setup yesterday as fresh, with gravel plastic plants and a rock with barnacles and live allergy on it. No that is not a typo, he said allergy. Ask if he actually setup as saltwater. Says no just tap water with the live rock. Tell him it's not live anymore. Questions why LFS didn't explain this to him. Recommend he go ask them and walk away.

old lady in front of me was talking to the petco fish person (a good one). I guess she bought 7 gold fish (aka feeder fish) for her pound outside... but its not gonna be deep enough for the winter. So she asked the fish guy what she should do with them for the winter. he said buy and set up a 30 gallon tank and that should be fine for the winter. She gets pissed and says "im not spending $100 for 2 dollars worth of fish" and storms out of the store.
old lady in front of me was talking to the petco fish person (a good one). I guess she bought 7 gold fish (aka feeder fish) for her pound outside... but its not gonna be deep enough for the winter. So she asked the fish guy what she should do with them for the winter. he said buy and set up a 30 gallon tank and that should be fine for the winter. She gets pissed and says "im not spending $100 for 2 dollars worth of fish" and storms out of the store.

this one happened today
Kid: I want that one (points to random fish)
Kid: and two other ones (points to two more)
I asked him what size tank, and his dad made a size with his hand, I thought about 10 gallons.
Me: those fish are too agressive (a white lie), they wont be happy in a 10g. Get a bigger tank
Kid: are they mean (points to other tank of africans)
Me: even more
Me:just get one yellow guy. Get a bigger tank, then you can go nuts.
Well, later I found out two sad facts. The tank was a 5g, and he was buying it that day. Then, god bless her, a lfs employee stepped in and told the kid about cycling. He didnt get the fish today, and hopefully he'll end up with a bigger tank.
the other one was tole to me by that lfs's manager
Appparently, a guy walked in one day to buy a fish and tank. He had no experiance with fish, but wanted saltwater. The employees fianlly convinced him that with his budget,he can only get a betta. The next day, the man comes back with the bette (alive). He also is returning its food, because he is a vegan and refuses to feed it anything with fish in it.

My store kept track of your sales, and could be let go if they were low...
A lady the weekend before christmas asks... say she wants a pleco... say her tank has been setup for months and has had fish... think to my self okay... She then asks "if I put this in a wrapped box christmas tonight will it be okay?" I wanna see my kids face when they open it...." I told her no...and she left... muttering about ruining her kids christmas....
Old lady comes up to me... Talks about how her tank is now cycled like I told her... and it was ready... I was happy she waited.... I started to bag... she says "I know it is Friday, but I will not get to the fish tank until school starts on Tuesday... so put alot of extra air in it.... I told her I can not sell any fish to her... then the old sweet women who is a 1st grader teacher curses me out...and I am a teacher too...
I have seen many more stories like this...that is why I stop going to the LFS...

OKay it is lke 96 outside and these two crack heads walk in with a baby all in long cloths... She then asks if they sell them baby bottle for small animals... They explain they are a fish store only...The crackhead says "guess we gotta go to petco huh." He says nicely seems like it... they then walk around the store and knock on the managers office... asks you guys sell them baby bottle things... explains again no, this is a fish store... They then walk around the store a bit... yells from back what kind of fish is this... My friend walks over...and she says... youall got them baby bottle things...
they then turn to leave, on the way out and asks for some money and leave for petco...walking the 4-5 miles with a baby...
Of course I had more, but those really shocked me...
