Will it never end? More lame customer moves.

not really a customer, but an employee... funny none the less

i took a light bulb back and gravel my gf didn't use. of course walked over to the fish to see if anyone brought somethgn back cool.

saw the oscar tank. it was odd... they were all huddled in the very back corner. couldn't get a good look at the tank because an employee was bagging a fish for some lady and i heard this...

Employee: here you go maam
Lady: thank you... by the way, why are those fish doing that?
Employee: what fish?
Lady: those *points to tank with oscars int he corner*
Employee: Oh its normal, they are just waiting for food. they do it all the time.

I heard that and was like... errrrr what? dude finally moves, adn i found out why they were in the corner...

some put a freaking red devil in there with them. they were huddling in fear.

So unless it becomes socially acceptable for us to kill people for sheer stupidity, i think our race is doomed to become monkeys.

retarded monkeys...

At a store I used to work at the actually implemented a buy the pleco, grow it up and trade it for a younger one....try as I might I couldn't convince people to get smaller algae eaters (do they even know that not all "plecos" eat just algae...or any at all??)

It was fustrating or me telling them about id sharks etc and rtcs and tsns

Me: "These guys get huge fast, so unless you're willing to commit to a pond for this litter guy, I'd suggest something else if you really want a catfish" (walks over to corydora section)
Customer: "well, that takes forever and they only grow to the size of the tank, so I want one. Besides, I've had 15 of these guys in 10 years, and they all lived for a year or so"
Me: "Actually, that's not entirely true. Even though fish kept in aquariums don't generally grow as large as they would in the wild, they still get big. It'd be like taking a great dane and putting it in a kennel ment for a small dog. The dog will die because of inadequate conditions"
Customer: "No, that's not true, I want to talk to your manager"
Me: "That'd be me"
Customer: Oh...(turns around and leaves)

lady comes in (odd how most of these stories of ladies[i mean NOTHING by that!!!]) and asks "what fish are good to feed her* goldfish". (that's a quote, you'll see)
i said you should just feed them prepared food, pellets, flakes, etc...

she says her fish only take live food
i tell her with a puzzeled look on my face to then get some black worms or baby eatchworms from the fridge.

she goes over and paroosed through the frigdes, says there's nothing big enough, all those worms are tiny.

i say lady how big are your goldfish!!!

se says they aren't goldfish, they 'arowunna'.

m'am our FEEDER* goldfish are over there.

then tried educating her on the maladies of feeding goldfish, etc. she wouldn't have any of it, same old, same old, walk out with 2 doz fish that the other guy bagged.

it's always great to see how people react to you or someone just like you being a manager.

Ah overstocking...

Walked into the LFS on Sunday, I've got my new tank up and cycled and a couple fish in, was hoping to find something from my planned stocklist. Anyway I saw some lil' baby sevs and planned to get a couple, then headed over to the "big fish" side of the store, and there's a tanks with:

1x wild-colored O
1x pinktail chalceus
1x redbelly pacu
1x needlefish/hujeta/rocket gar whatever they are
1x ropefish
3x red devil/midas
1x salvini
1x CK
1x black convict
4x polys (could have been 5 actually, looked like senegals and palmas)

all between 6-8" except the con which was probably 4". Now I've been after a chal for awhile and I figured here's my chance, so I ask the kid how much the fish are (no tags in sight) and he says they're not for sale, some guy brought them in because he had "problems" with his tank. Now the fish looked pretty healthy, the O was sulking in typical O fashion when things aren't going his way and the hujeta had a sunken belly and looked like a goner but others all looked nice. So I asked how big the tank was that they were in, and he says "a 55" and I'm like "I think I know what the problem was". He laughed and told me to check back about the fish but I was just amused by the idea of all those fish in a 55.

But if/when they're available I'm all over the chalceus. I'm thinking somebody wants first pick as some of the fish were really nice.

I also caught a guy stealing fancy guppies from tanks and putting them in small water bags he had in his pocket.

LOL

Has anyone else had a problem with customers stealing fish?

I have 2 lovely stories lol.
1 was a lady trying to brag about her green spotted puffers, to a bunch of guys at the LFS. She kept going on and on about them saying how they are fresh water and so on, like she was ms know it all about gsp. Finally I couldn't hold my tongue and I said they are actually brackish not fresh water. She got so mad at me, I think it was bc I ruined her game. LFS not a meat market...go to the club for that.

Second was when I bought my common pleco. The girl told me that they get up to 24 inches so I better have a tank that is at least 24 gallons. At least huh? I asked her how tall she was. She looked at me weird but I insisted she told me her height. She said 5'7. I asked her if she would feel comfy living in a room that was 5'7 tall and 5'7 wide for the rest of her life. I told her he is going in a 40g and eventually into a 150g.
I am not an expert by any means, I am still new to this hobby and it shocks me how little ppl know about fish or any of it.
