I have worked at a lfs for a year and a half. I wish some of the stuff I have to deal with was fake. If it weren't for the look on their faces, I would think they were joking.

I have no doubt your stories are true since they don't seem as outrageous as "This lady wanted an oscar for her new 1gallon bowl and i wouldn't sell it to her so she wanted to see my manager so i wrote manager on my hand and punched her in the face and she fell backwards and broke through the glass of the 3rd story LFS and died"
Ive been working in my LFS for 8 months and you do get a lot of people liek those mentiond in stories.
Also i love this thread!
Weve got this customer in my LFS who will never let me serve them even if its somthing simple like testing there water i go can i help you? She syas no id like to see Lindsey ( my boss) and im like fair enough.... Well to be honest i bet that she thinks im just a lacky who knows nothing about fish and is there for money, but we have a 8x3x2 display tank with 3 20"+ disc rays and she goes whys there only two rays in there to my boss, and he goes bruce and points to me had one. and she goes wow, how bigs your tank and i go its a tropical pond ive gone beyond tanks LOL. Shes only got a 2x1x1, so now she lets me serve her. LOL.
There is new guy working at the LFS in town. I went in Saturday to pick up some krill and there was a few other people in the fish section starring at a 55 gallon tank.
I went over to see what was in the tank as was surprized to see an alligator gar, at least 18" long, squished into one side of the divided tank (8"Oscar was on the other side.)
The new guy was explaining that this was an "African Gar(?!)" and that it was fully grown. It was safe to put into commuinity tanks because "all it does is sit on the tank bottom and eat wafers".
Umm, of course all it does is sit on the tank bottom, it couldn't MOVE, even it wanted to!!!
I once bought a few feeder goldfish from a walmart, and as I was checking out, the girl at the counter (with complete seriousness) said "make sure you hold the bag up high while exiting". Needless to say, I was a bit confused. Apparently all the employees had been told that the scanners by the door (that set off alarms on electonics when they don't deactivate the tags) kicked out enough radiation to kill fish, and that's why people had to keep returning them. I laughed the entire way home.
