Muffy, I don't feel that I'm scrutinizing you. I read your comments and saw no mention of water consumption. I just found that odd. The basis for any diet would be to clean up empty calories, starting with sodas and replacing it with water. Arguably, replacing other liquids with water would be more beneficial that any other diet advice, including eating fruits and vegetables. The fact that I didn't see you mention it was something to note.

A little reading on red meat: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_meat
You can google red meat vs white meat for a variety of other reasons why white meat is less detrimental.

I aim for mostly fruits and veggies in my diet, and I try to steer towards chicken or turkey if I'm going to eat meat. I did have a delicious burger this evening, so it's not like I swear off red meat, I'm just very selective when I do have it. I had a filet mignon earlier this month...

The point is that red meat, regardless of whether it's lean or not, is still a health risk. If you can switch out for chicken or turkey, why wouldn't you do that?

Clay i believe you misinterpreted. She wasn't talking about you scrutinizing her, it was more of Irishfan and his last post.

I do believe i eat more white meat than red meat a week, but you still gotta love the red meat ^^. I will be eating more fish and chicken this week!

Just a note, as I have posted already, there was mention of his water intake on page 1 ...

As far as red meat, it really isn't a big deal in the small quantities he is eating (though when he first started, he kept saying STEAK and then STEAK and then more steak, and I was skeptical, but I think he has modified his diet to much less now). There are far more benefits to eating lean white meats, including fish, but a piece of lean red meat in the diet will provide some good iron and won't add a lot of fat. Everything in moderation. No need to go so extreme. Why cut out all red meat completely, if he likes it?

I'm just saying here, you guys are giving out good advice, but you're also expecting him to take everything to the extreme and that's a little silly.

Well today i worked out with my mom again.

I woke up and went straight to work out. We walked/jogged 3.2 miles.

When i got home i ate a banana and a handful of nuts.

For lunch i had some meatballs in marinara sauce, and a cup of juice.

For dinner i had chicken breast with broccoli and potatoes.

So far i have almost ate my daily consumption, and have increased protein intake, at least for today.

I don't think any of the advice I have given would be considered extreme. You want extreme? Try the ANPB diet (all natural peanut butter). You want extreme? Try 325g of protein a day, spaced over 8 meals, combined with an hour of cardio and 2+ hrs of heavy weight training every day. Try a 400lb bench press. :) I've been extreme before. I just mentioned a few things to clean up his diet, that's all :)

No I understand this, I'm just saying there is no need to cut out ALL of one thing, if he can eat it in moderation. Different meanings of extreme here.

Grunt - you ate almost your entire daily intake in 2 meals and a small snack????

Can I suggest something? Perhaps replace your juice intake with crystal light or water or unsweet tea? Juice (100% natural no sugar added juice) can be a good thing to drink as part of a quick breakfast, being the fruit component, when you don't have time to actually sit down and eat a piece. Or for the highly absorptive qualities right before a run or something. But having it as a drink alongside a meal, this just adds calories for no reason really. Vitamins in it are fine and all but eat a piece of fruit instead.

Just a suggestion.

I'm not going to say anything about the meatballs ... yet. I'm hoping you just had a big lunch today for some reason and it won't be a trend.

Pretty much.. lunch was around 15 meatballs and that was 660 calories plus the marinara.

OJ is 70 calories

Banana is 110

Dinner was probably 600-800 calories as well.

Forgot to say i drank half a frapuccino in the morning, i know its not good but i needed it since i felt weak, and thats another 170 calories.

I still have like 400 more calories to go by what my app says..

Thanks for the suggestion, i was actually thinking of crystal light as well, ive tried it before and its awesome stuff

Hhow was your dinner 600-800calories? That must have been a lot of potatoes, or you put butter on them, or you had like 3 pieces of chicken???

I think you should try spreading your calories out more.

Muffy feel free to say anything lol. I did have quite a lunch since i didnt have breakfast before and i was pretty hungry today. Not to mention that there was no other meat ready to eat and last nights leftover dinner was spaghetti(which i didnt eat)
