The basis for any diet would be to clean up empty calories, starting with sodas and replacing it with water. Arguably, replacing other liquids with water would be more beneficial that any other diet advice, including eating fruits and vegetables. The fact that I didn't see you mention it was something to note.
A little reading on red meat: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_meat
You can google red meat vs white meat for a variety of other reasons why white meat is less detrimental.
I aim for mostly fruits and veggies in my diet, and I try to steer towards chicken or turkey if I'm going to eat meat. I did have a delicious burger this evening, so it's not like I swear off red meat, I'm just very selective when I do have it. I had a filet mignon earlier this month...
The point is that red meat, regardless of whether it's lean or not, is still a health risk. If you can switch out for chicken or turkey, why wouldn't you do that?
Clay i believe you misinterpreted. She wasn't talking about you scrutinizing her, it was more of Irishfan and his last post.
I do believe i eat more white meat than red meat a week, but you still gotta love the red meat ^^. I will be eating more fish and chicken this week!
