In the caiman den
I have seen the firemen around here do that from time to time. It makes sense to me, that if your on duty, the whole team goes and eats lunch together, so that if a call comes in, they can just hop in the truck and take off to the emergency. I do not have a problem with it.

For me, I think its good reporting. Im sure alot of people have seen FF's doing this, and to me, I think its a waste of tax money. I have buddies that are FF's and said they arnt allowed to go out and do that. Thats why the tax payers pay to have kitchens built in the firehouse. They usually work 24 on, then 24-48 hours off. To me, they should be at the firehouse.

i would say getting lunch is ok if your out for something, and I guess stocking the firehouse kitchen is technically firemen business.

I think if there at the station it might be a better system to have only one man leave and take orders or shop, then be reimbursed. I would rather not have them take out the fire truck if its not necessary. This is assuming they have one person they can do with out if theres a call.

I think its a gray area, especially because the fire truck is so specialized and big. Overall im willing to ignore it, theres alot worse misuses of tax payer money.

as far as the reporter is concerned, it was a pretty stupid thing to report on. I don't think he should be fired, but i hope his future articles are more pertinent

these guys risk their lives for us who cares if they take the fire truck to lunch, I would bet its a great way to meet women and pretty damn fun. And who says they didnt take it for safety sake if they get a call while there out getting lunch they have to go back to the station to get the truck which is a waste of precious time

Thats the dumbest thing to complain about.

Tell ya what... if my tax dollars are paying those Fire Fighters to go have lunch in their Fire Truck.

GOOD!!!!

They deserve it. :D Their job is to protect and save people's LIVES!

In fact..

I'll spend more of my tax dollars if they want to take their Fire Truck up to the Mountains and 4 wheel drift it all the way down.

GAWD. Some people just can't SURVIVE without complaining about something.

That reporter is just trying to find people to chastise to make himself feel better for all his own flaws.

He probably cheats on his wife and uses petty cash from work to buy her chocolates to bury his guilt.

:irked::irked:

I don't see anything wrong with it either.. that seems pretty silly to report it. It's not like they had a call and didn't respond to it!! Firemen/women are people too, they gotta eat!! Geez. God forbid they eat...

Bad reporting to the max. The reporter should be let go asap. I don't get how people can pick on people that are in the life preserving business.

Some people just dont realise how hard our job is and complain about stupid stuff. We work hard providing the best services possible. I just lost my temper with this article and actualling seeing some idiot side with this giant idiot tickd me off. I should be nicer about it though:ROFL:
is the firehouse at the center of the district? i think i'm more worried it may take longer to respond then the tax money.

im just sayin everyones got to remember that we paid for that fire truck and the gas that it runs on (1MPG). and we pay there salarys so they may buy there own cars.

i think the reporters needed a story and picking on life saving workers was the wrong thing. but the tabs on us when there using equipment improperly.
