Worst tank accident?

i never had an accident with tanks but i had qiute an amuzing time with a fish bowl
i wanted to give my 8 year old cousin a bowl as a birthday present
somehow i found time to go to the lfs after a tiring day of college and after some heavy bargaining managed to buy him quite a large bowl plus some barbs and some danios
since we sold our car we were using an auto (tuk tuk) to get to my cousins place and the stupid auto guy charged me extra for waiting outside the lfs :irked:
anyway i made it halfway and the auto broke down :swear: so we got into an overcrowded bus (busses in india are always so overcrowded that there is hardly any breathing space!!!) and somehow managed to keep the crowd from breaking the bowl!
when we reached my cousins house i gave him the bowl and he loved it :grinno:
while setting up the bowl he tried to throw out some of the water from the packet and that way a couple of barbs and a danio went down the drain:shakehead
next he put the fish in but suddenly realized that the bowl was in the wrong place so he picked it up to take it to his room and.....crash :WHOA:......he dropped it
can u believe that after all the trouble i went through to keep the bowl from breaking, he broke it himself.....isnt that amazing in an annoying sense of way

LOL thats funny and sad at the sametime. It's ok, atleast you tried ;)
 
Couple years ago my (much) younger brother when he 2 or 3 threw my jump drive I used for college, my keys, and a few other things in my Piranha tank. That was when I had Seppuku a particularly aggressive RB just a little bigger then a foot long, lol. He liked to bite at things and I didnt usally bother his tank. I'm tempted to lie and give this story a dramatic ending but I got it out with a long net and the drive still worked.

P.S Seppuku was also the reason I fell in love with piranha, RIP oh honorable executioner of feeders.
 
not really a disaster of a tank but a disater for itself. i had about an 8 to 9 inch jaguar cichlid in a 75g by himself in the basement just haninging out. it had a glass heater at the time and i thought nothing of it since he had been in the tank maybe a year and a half. Well to my surprise i walk down to his tank to feed him and to my dismay i look in an he lay afloat. Apparently throught the night he got froggy and somehow shattered his heater leaving him to freeze to death in the dead of winter. It was a shame and i took the tank down and sold it i was so distraught.
 
about 1.5 monthes ago.. Had a huge PH spike in my 40 breeder and lost 1 of 2 fire eels I had just bought =( and my awesome lil' pleco I had had for some monthes. 7.2 ph went up to almost 9.6 ph ... Not a clue how it happened but I am now OCD about checking the PH/KH of that tank. about 7 years ago my 55 was in the basement w/ an adult synodontis cat and some random cichlids.. power went out in mid winter for 5 days.... much to my dismay I lost the whole tank. Alot of work for nothing...
 
My cousin had a twenty long until his 5 year old daughter hit it with a hammer. She's got a 5 year old of her own now, but Thom still won't set up another tank.

I have not had a tank leak yet and hope i never get one becuz my dad got pissed over a small trail of water when I was filling up 55g of water with a 4g bucket and I doubt he'd be happy if 55g of water spilled out :confused:
 
not really IN the tank, but my 2 yr old son knocked over a 5 gal. bucket of water all over the floor while i was doing a WC. I was pretty upset cuz it was dumped out towards all the outlets for the tank, so i thought i was going to short out a LOT!

but all turned out fine as i wet vacuumed it up after toweling it dry
