Oh lord, I actually read the thread now. So serious lol.
I wouldn't let some random person off of the street into my house without a damn good reason. Someone from the city who is at my house would have notified me beforehand, they're really good about that. A contractor I obviously arranged to be there. A person who walks up, knocks on the door and asks to come in and look around? I'm probably going to detain them and call the cops. I'm military police and that's just a bit TOO suspicious for my tastes. Simply put, that sounds like probing.
Most people who knock on my door are too scared to come in. The idiotic barking of my dogs is more than enough to make someone think twice. I did dogsport with my big male, part of which was biting a bite sleeve. When I was stationed in Ft Sill, OK I lived off post literally a quarter mile from the low income subsidized housing. THE number one crime hot spot in Lawton. I also lived right across the street from a defunct elementary school with a huge open field.
The dog, my friend and I would go out in that big field and do off leash obedience and bite work in the big open field as the hooligans at the low income housing watched. I would also walk the dog, off leash, right in front of the low income housing.
Actually, here's a picture taken right after a training session. You can see the projects in the background:

Not once did I have an issue in the two years I lived there. Within a week of my moving out, the landlord told me the house was broken into.
For what its worth, most of the kids in the low income housing were good kids. There were only a few teenage buttheads peddling dope and stealing tvs and whatnot to pay for it.
But I've digressed terribly. I think I'm just rambling now. 2am posts do cause that to happen.
Anyhoo, no I wouldn't open the door. No one gets in to see the wizard! Not no one, not no how!
