.. and a quick look at firearm related deaths per capita strongly argues against it. United States easily top it for non-developing countries, and allowing every random to carry a gun is never going to sort it out, ever. If you can't see that you're blatantly pro-gun biased.

I'm neither a fan or a hater of firearms, but I support the current laws in practice in Australia. People continue to argue that "the criminals will still manage to get their hands on the weapons so it's just taking guns out of responsible owners hands", that's true to an extent but less guns = less deaths. It's simple math.

It's been proven time and time again. In Mexico, in England and Australia. Remove guns from the people and the violent crime rate INCREASES! I choose to defend myself and will always do so! Who wants to wait for the police to show up when ones life is at stake?? :screwy:

I've heard that one before too. Sounds like fluctuation more than rising. If firearms are such a good thing for nations how the US easily top Firearm related deaths per capita as previously stated, then?

Edit: Violent Crime Rate? Or Gun Related Crime rate? Are these seperate distinguishable categories or combined? ie. Remove guns, gun crime rate drops yet violent crime rate (assaults, etc.) rise? If you've got less of a chance of getting shot then what's there to argue?)

I've heard this I've heard that.. Big deal. Doesn't matter really WHAT you think ;) They carry guns here.. And they fight to keep that right... :D

It's a right The Citizens here fight for tooth and nail.. It is one of the last couple rights we fight for here..

To me that is the biggest issue. I dont want our country to get on the slippery slope of taking away rights given to us in the Constitution.

It is also important to rememeber what Admiral Yamamoto said, "You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass."

Yes, for now, its irrelevent with our very very strong millitary for our citizens to need a rifle behind every blade of grass, but the fact is, if the SHTF, our citizens will be well armed and put up a heck of a fight. Our enemies foreign AND domestic will t hink twice before trying to oppress us.

Imagine what atrocities could have been prevented in Europe if more people had their own means to defend them selves. Through out history, a deprival of a people to own arms, has ultimately led to their oppresion. Not here, not now, not ever!!!

You're not getting it! It's been proven that guns prevent violent crime! Alot of crimes/violence goes unreported too because it was stopped from being committed by a law abiding citizen with a gun! A thief/murderer/"crime committer" thinks twice about committing a crime against some one who carries a gun! No gun = more violent crimes committed! No guns? Criminals use knives or still use guns! Criminals will always find a way! With or without a gun! I choose to protect myself and my family with a gun! It's my Constitutional right! Like it or not!

I dont have a lot of wise words to argue any of this. I carry a knife everyday wherever i go. I dont carry it to be a hero. I use it to cut weedeater line at work, ive used it as a doorstop, to open presents, its always there if i need it, but i dont ever try to save the day with my pocket knife. If the need arose id do what i had to to defend myself and i higly doubt that i would be charged with excessive force for bringing a knife to a gun fight, so im not worried about that. As soon as i can afford a decent pistol ill pick one up, and a CCW so i can conceal it. Not so i can kill people but id rather have a gun in my hand than a cop on the phone. Heres a vid of a CCW in action....

it is interesting how quickly this became a constitutional argument. I believe in our right to bear arms - I'm one small step ahead of Rally with a bolt-action. 20 gauge. I think law-abiding Americans should have the right to carry concealed weapons. I never have felt that I need a gun to feel safe, but then again I often don't wear my seatbelt!

Headbanger jib isn't the only one that is confused by our obsession with firearms here in the U.S. - most of the world doesn't share our freedom to own guns.
