Yay new 75 gal planted tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm pretty sure that the I shant need to cut the hole bigger for oxygen because the bacteria should be getting their oxygen directly from the water and therefore the hole shouldn' affect the oxygen concentration. If I do cut the hole then that, I think, shall defeat the purpose of making the chamber air tight in attempt to salvage co2 loss.

We're beyond CO2 loss. The reason why you have pressure in the bio chamber is because of outgassing.

Just a thought, have you thought about having that airline go into the tank return as opposed to into the reactor?

Yes indeed! That was mentioned to me by a knowledgeable chap at the LFS. I have not yet tried it though. I need to get a barbed coupling of some kind i think because the line is'nt long enough to reach. Definitely worth a shot though.

I buy little brass bulkhead fittings same size as standard airline tubing, from the local hobby shop, and when they're out, I check the local radio shack. Some people use them as wire guards.

Perhaps I shall try that.... Next day off work I'll have to take a trip there. Mean while I think it might be best to get the tank planted and start it running. Right now there is no plants and no co2. Just fish and fully cycled. I think then I can better understand to what degree this gas off will be happening. I'm thinking that once I see everything working and such I can make changes to the system and fine tune it. Who knows maybe I'll get lucky and the co2 loss will be small and I wont need to do anything eh? Ha!

Yay! the plants came today. Here is the tank currently. This is the first go at aquascaping. I need more wood. And I have to get that other piece anchored down somehow as well.
