Your biggest mistake

whoa, you kept an alligator gar and an oscar with piranhas?
what species?
did it work out on the long term? if yes, thats pretty damn awesome :headbang2

@ topic: didn't make any mistakes yet but then again i'm only setting up my 1st tank right now, a 25l freshwater shrimp/wild guppy nano
not very ]v[onster, but it'll have to do 'till i move out from my parent's house ;)
 
my biggest mistake was buying a 40 gal and not knowing where to put it. when i bought it my Gf said i would be able to fit it on the table i told its fine nothing can go wrong.......

It didnt fit!
 
I made my biggest mistake ever just yesterday. I have a 24" Silver Arowana that I recently moved into a pond outside because he had out grown his tank. The conditions were ideal and everything was set up fine. All of a sudden the weather changed and the water temp dropped to about 18 Deg. The fish didn't eat but seemed to soldier on. Three weeks later and he'd not eaten, i decided enough is enough and moved him back into the house figuring a warm tank that's a bit small is better than a large pond that is too cold. Wrong, i didn;t think to take the water from the pond to fill the tank and then slowly heat it. I put the arow into water which must have been 27 degrees. A stupid stupid mistake that him done irreparable damage to the fish especially considering he's not eaten since December. He can;t swim, his eyes are sinking into his head, his top has turned very dark and he just hangs in the water with his head drooping. When he does swim it all over the places, upside down on his side and he crashes into the bottom and sides. I'm trying every way i can to rescue him but i doubt very much anything will help him. It's heart breaking to watch such a beautiful fish go like this and know that it's my lack of thought that has caused it.
If anyone has a miracle cure I'd be so grateful to hear from you.

Not enough to call my "biggest" but one of them was getting a new bluegill last year. The new one died about 2 days later from getting the snot beat out of it. On the bottom of the tank, ripped fins, big red spots. Was barely alive... Then it met Mr. Toilet.
 
walked away from the bucket when i was siphoning water out of the tank :-(
 
for me, the biggest mistake was forgot to cover the back of the tank and my arapima leap out:irked:.. never again..
