My fish used to hate it when I did the tap to tank method . Now that I pre treat and age they really don't seem to notice at all besides the occasional scare from a gravel vac or the pre water change mag float startles them .

Tough to put a fine point on this one, obviously...

Going through the process of the water change definitely stimulates my fish, especially cichlids - they seem to "play" in the water and will actively try and forage in any substrate that gets kicked up.

On the other hand, the only fish that seems disturbed in a bad way by my water changes would be any plecostomus in the tank - they seem to take longer to recover from the "trauma" and will change color and position in the tank all the while.

Voted 3.

It depends on which tank. My little fishes are always curious about the vacuum. But for the most part they are used to it and just like oh it's that time again.

Ha, i read it wrong at first. I though it said how stressful is it to do water changes.

I guess it would be stress full if you had a bull shark or a snake head that could take your arm off.

Voted one. I have a drip system. They are fine with it.

I notice my Tigrinus seems to cruise the tank a little more actively after a change. It does'nt seem to be bothered, more like rejuvinated I guess. It's similar to when I drop food in the tank and he seems to wake up,sense it and go after it.
