Your worst mistake?

I took my nice new $50 heater out and laid it next to the tank while I was catching some fry. It probably sat there 10 minutes. The shocked and confused look on my face for a brief moment must have been priceless while i was trying to figure out why my new heater exploded in a cloud of steam and smoke upon hitting the water. :duh:

Put in a new black ghost knife with my frontosas as a temporary grow out.. they never bothered anything else that was smaller than them. One of them ate the BGK as soon as I left the room, caught him with the tale hanging out of his mouth.

Leaning the lid against a wall behind the tank.. Poor bala shark.

Yesterday I introduced a small knife into the tank which lasted about 20 minutes :(

Went from a 50 to 110 put water in no lid peacock bass jumped out first water change since then had four oscars check ph on first bucket look great so I didn't bother with the others vac gravel tens later all done looked in tank fish were turning white dam check ph way high needed acid bad dropped three caps and then like 7 more city tap water sucks treat for chlorine then ph is my new rule lost three oscars one that made it died thee weeks later probably from alkalinity dissolving

Easy: Bought a baby Red Tailed Catfish! In six months it had eaten nearly every fish in my tank, so I gave it to my brother-in-law who likes big, mean fish. It cleaned out his tank as well and go so large it could not turn around in a 55 (no surprise there), so we dutifully packed it up and took it to the LFS who somehow found it in their heart to take it. We did fudge the size a bit on the phone and you should have seen the look on the guys face when we opened the cooler!

Unless you have an unlimited budget for feeding a mouth with fins and a tank the size of an olympic pool, I would not recommend a RTC! LOL!

My biggest mistake .... not joining and checking site a sight like this sooner. Always jumping in two feet first and getting burned.

Mine was buying a Chinese "algae eater" I use quotes cause he ate more of the slime off my other fish than algae. Killed several of its tank mates. Luckily I was newish at the time and the fins were not expensive. Though still very sad to lose fish regardless of price. I do much more research b4 buying now. Lesson learned.
