some of you guys still are not getting it. joe pa OBVIOUSLY covered up events to keep his reputation and that of HIS program clean. did anyone else notice he sold his house to his wife for $1. hes either a tax cheat or hes hiding assets against civil litigation.bythe way he did this last summer ,he knew what was comming down the tracks and was covering his behind. once again I WILL SAY ,HE IS NOT AVICTIM IN ANY WAY ,OR AFALL GUY

The change of ownership of Paterno's house does sound suspicious, but then again he's 84 and she's 71, so he probably doesn't expect to be alive much longer and made the transfer now. There are probably other plausible reasons for the switch, too, but I guess we'll have to wait and see what comes of it.
Change of ownership is often done in estate planning.

it is usually done to hide assets, from the irs or civil litigation.this is apattern with joe pa its called CYA at anyone elses expense

Its done in both. How about get proof before you ready ur lynch mob. K?

He did what he was supposed to. Alerted his bosses and police.

With this lynch mob, id lawyer up. Its called being smart!!! No matter what, even if ur 100% innocent you ALWAYS get a lawyer. THAT my friend is cya.

Again since you seem to not be able to read, he alerted both police AND his bosses. He can not bar anyone from really anything. He is a coach thats it. The guys who had the power knew and did nothing. There is the problem.

Ps im not a penn fan so no worship here just common sence

Thank you! Finally someone gets it! Joe knew all along Sandusky was his buddy! I don;t understand why some on here think Joe did the right thing. Joe was More than a football coach. Just look at the way the kids tore up the campus when he got fired. He even said he could of done more to protect innocent kids. At this piont who gives A f about his football record. I guess maybe I am an old marine that was taught to protect the weak. All Joe had to do wsas to say I want Jerry Sandusky barred from this campus forever and investigated till he cracks and it would have happened. Maybe this scenirio Welcome to the Joe and Jerry shower show. Come on in boys the water is just right. I hope the whole college goes bankrupt when all the civil sues start pouring in.

That's the kind of thinking that allowed what took place in the Penn to fester and eventually blow up in their faces. Also, it sends the wrong way message that sports is bigger than the welfare of children. I just assume that you are young and will eventually learn that there are more important things in life. Things that you need to value if you want to rise up in any organization.

Here's something to learn from if willing........

Did you actually read my post that you quoted? i'm going to quote it below. i basically just said seperate the person from the sport figure and you assume i'm young? i'm not even going to bother to post any unnecessary info about who i am but i'd like to know how recognizing someone can be a bad person has anything to do with their sports achievement. oj simpson most likely killed that man and women, kobe still cheated on his wife weither he rape that hotel clerk or not, etc etc, they're still SPORTS icons, not role models. i'm young for knowing how to seperate the two?

ps, i also mentioned the game should not have been played saturday (not for what joe pa did, but for how the entire university failed)

i'm seriously face palming right now

anyone know anybody that idolizes joe pa? i don't. he's a recognizeable sports figure but i doubt many dads are saying son, i want you to grow up to be just like that man! Doesnt make him any less legendary. micheal jordan was a great basketball player just like joe pa is a legendary football coach, doesn't mean mj was a good person. he was a notorious bully, notorious womanizer, notorious gambler etc etc etc. we can do down the list and do this with most sports icons. doesn't make them any less of a legend for what they did on the court, sideline, field, ice etc etc.

most people can seperate the person from the sports icon.

Okay, people, learn to read non-opinion based articles on this; an opinion article means nothing in this case because of how many falsehoods and theories are being presented by people writing these opinion articles without do much research on their own.

If you guys get to have your crazy theories, here's mine (which lines up with what pwmin was saying): They drug Paterno into this to get rid of him and to try to steal his pension. He's owed a $500,000/year pension for putting in 60 years at Penn State and contributing to that pension fund. They obviously want that money for other things, and the University is in debt so this is just one way to get some money. Thus far, all recorded evidence shows that the police are the ones who dropped the ball multiple times in this scandal; there is nothing concrete that shows a link between most of the Penn State staff (former and current) that says that they did not follow protocol (and laws) while even doing more than required in some cases.

It could also mean she knows something and he's trying to buy her off....and if he's 84 and she's 71 and he's been at it for 60 years doesn't that make her 11 when they hitched up.....could be another damning fact in this case......

Where'd that come from? He's been working there for 60 years; he hasn't been married to her for that long.

That's not a tax cheat; it's legal to transfer ownership of something such as a house or a car to a relative for $1.

You just show that you're more intelligent than the vast majority of other people and being able to separate the two doesn't make someone young rather it makes them intelligent and wise. I agree with the vast majority of your points thus far, too.
